| Rear Axle shaft clicking noise Problem solved!
Man it's annoying. Is there a secret to getting rid of the clicking noise that comes from the rear axle shafts going in out of the ring gear..I know the cause is from the small amount of end play in that area and the metal on metal contact.Doesnt affect performance at all but I hate the click noise when driving. Not the end of the world but if there is a trick to dampening the sound that would be great. Both of my Enduro's do it..Just a nature of this beast or? My SCX 10.2 don't do it,is it because of the rear lockouts? Thanks Last edited by xv-townboy; 04-12-2020 at 07:06 PM. |

I have been looking for a cure too, only thing I have seen suggested so far is shims.. but I haven’t a clue where they would need to be put as I haven’t dismantled my axels yet.. I've had mine apart..I do my know that the play in that area is not unsual,my scx 10.2 has it as well but it doesn't make the noise..I was thinking a piece of masking tape on the part of the shaft goes into the ring gear just to dampen the sound ( shimming may be a better idea).I may try it just to see..Thanks for the reply Last edited by xv-townboy; 04-12-2020 at 06:27 PM. |

I think the shim would need to be placed between the step of the shaft and the outer bearing..Just to answer your question..Will up date unless we hear of a definite fix..Thanks

Problem solved!..Thanks for the shim idea!..I use shims all the time and why I never thought of that is beyond me.Old age maybe..So I used one traxxas Teflon shim between the outter bearing and the the step of the shaft..Try it out and see if it works for ya That worked well..Now to get rid of the squeaking noise coming from the front of my SCX 10.2 Last edited by xv-townboy; 04-12-2020 at 07:42 PM. |
