| Nice...Ace made the shafts for his worm gear axle super out of tool steel. I don't remember if it was 300M but they were plenty stout. |

got to finally do some work on the axles , been super busy but the axles are coming together . also since time has been tight i decided to go with the cdw chassis instead of cutting my own , yotachump contacted me a couple weeks back and asked if i would like to test his new chassis and i jumped at the chance . he sent me two braced sides for the berg build this new chassis is clearly one of the cleanest well thought out designs available and it should make the super berg shine. i'll be doing a more complete write up on the widened berg axles tonight the axles came out 10.5" wide from wms - wms and with axial 40 series locks on moab xl's the outside width is a tad under 13" |

man i been so busy i have not had much time on this project but i did start on the steering and upper link mounts on the axle. also got in a few new goodies for the build i found these really nice 0 offset axle adapters from new era models , they convert the berg axles to 17mm hex and locknut up from the stock 12mm . while i was at it i installed axial stubs at all four corners to beef things up a bit . for steering i went with nluv's bta or as i call it "atgs" around the gearbox steering there was enough room to squeeze the tie rod around the gearbox and behind the axle to allow me to add an axle truss . since the axle center was now offset by using the 2 long side axle tubes i needed to figure out a way to center the upper link mount when it dawned on me that the gearbox is now dead center and all i needed was to add another stock upper link mount to the opposite side of the gearbox . this will now allow me to run my upper links parallel . the upper link mounts ended up being 1.5" inside to inside the exact width of the new chassis skid i built ... what luck . anyway enough gum flappin here go the pix Last edited by BoNuS LiNe; 08-07-2008 at 11:52 PM. |

ok on another note i need a steering arm from a stock knuckle that someone cut off for rear lockouts. i want to tig weld the extra cut off arms to the knuckles to create a highsteer arm to raise the tie rod up and to strengthen the knuckle. i lost one of my cut off steerning arms when doing my rear lockouts and need only one cutoff steering arm pm me if you can hook me up this is what i am after in the pix |

Alan, this thing is super fly. I am bakc up here in Truckee this weekend (but I broke the axial frame in half last night on a nasty roll down my folks property). I am hoping to get my new BJ chassis together pretty soon here, and then we may be able to hook up this weekend out at Big Bend. Dima |
