| Bonus line's super berg
i have been thinking of building a super truck for some time and after running my 2.2 berg i am sold on this truck . so i want to build a berg based super truck , i have heard a rumor that berg is working on a super but it would not be anytime before the nationals in moab so the next best thing is to build my own berg super axles i got to thinking and it will be super easy to build a wider berg axle using 2x long side tubes and inners per gear box housing . it brings the berg axle out 2 more inches and is as easy as clocking axles . i will be doing a full how to on building these axles . with 40 series meats it should end up right around 13-13.5 inches wide. specs for this build bonus line berg super chassis berg widened axles custom wheels tba moab xl nwtt prototype super foams mamba max motors tba jr robot servos berg shocks maxamps battery here is the teaser stay tuned for the beginning of the build this week Last edited by BoNuS LiNe; 07-29-2008 at 12:20 AM. |

Alan you only a month to get it done and test it out, so you better not go to any more comps that way some of might win one.

I was thinking about doing that with my super, I couldn't find shafts so 12-14mm adapters it was. I ended up at 14". Nice work though, if it works out well I might have to try it down the road. What's your plan for centering the links? |

| That's why I have tried to keep mine light and not overly big but I know your rig isn't that big. I'm pretty light on the trigger too. In the end I figured I'd give it a try, if it doesn't work my kid will get a nice set of berg axles for his rig.

Oh it works, I killed everyone at the last comp with mine, but I had to baby it. I'm not much for babying things.

have you actually broke anything ? i have read a lot of your posts regarding bergs and i don't recall you breaking anything in the axles i have beaten these axles badly and nothing has shown any wear . the gears look like new the bearings are fine and when i built the 2.2 i scribed the inner axles with a line down the center to show if any twisting occurred . i have forced this truck through horrible binds time and time again and the inners have not shown even the slightest bit of twist. im curious what you dont have confidence in . looks good Bonus cant wait to see what you have in mind for mods I have the same project sittin on the work table right now. I thought about using two long tubes but nobody has them in stock. If it comes down to it, some 3/4" adapters on xtm wheels will make it right at 13 or 13.5" ( I cant remember which) |

What about reducing those XL's to Maxx size? They end up at 6.5" tall and look good for a 16" - 17" wb. If you have any issues that might relieve some stress. That's what my super will be running at Nationals. I'm interested to see how this ends up. |

Hey B.L. , I wish you the best of luck. But I think an axle is going to twist or snap, if One of those XL's get in a bind. I agree with grizzly play it safe and go with maxx size. Has anyone hear anything about XTM's x-crawler axle being released seperately ??? That was my idea for a super..... |
