Default Steering link

Can any one tell me which way is the best to have the smaller steering bar going from the knuckle to the servo or a short bar from the servo drilled in to the longer steering bar thanks

Neither is necessarily better than the other. They both accomplish the same thing.

That said, the rod you are talking about (that goes from the servo horn to the knuckle OR horn to tie for in the other setup) is called a drag link. The long rod that goes from knuckle to knuckle is called a tie rod.

I think it's mostly a matter clearance issues/concerns and what tools you have at your disposal. If you have access to machine shop, you could go with the fancy drag link to tie rod setup, but if all you have is the Allen & nut drivers at your disposal, a more traditional setup will serve you well.
