Default Glow's new rig - Need some advice....

Long time shafty guy, recently went to a MOA with a an XR10. Got tired of throwing money at those POS axles and finally gave up and scored some Berg axles.

Specs:

BJ4 Carbon Fiber Chassis
Tekin FXR
Punk Dig
JR Radio
Cheapy 35t motors, soon to be some Holmes 35t
Vanquish Wheels with cut/siped rovers
Probably some other stuff i'm forgeting.

Here's a couple of pics mid rebuild/rewire

Here is my question, problem I bought these axles off another board member. They are pretty well built but used. The rear went together perfectly. The front, I ran into an issues with the motor mounting. Seems that one of the motor mount holes is broken/removed. No idea why someone would remove it but this is what i'm dealing with......

Is this motor plate/housing hosed? I can't get the motor to mount or stay in place at all. I've tried larger washers on the motor bolt, even tried a small plate of aluminum that I cut and drilled and a longer bolt into the motor. No matter what I do, I can't get the motor to stay put. gggrrrrr Any suggestions we would be awesome.

The two separate holes are the motor mounting holes. The original holes were removed in order to mount the servo behind the axle. You'd find this same or very similar mod on 90% or more of used berg axles.

Depending on the pinion size you choose to go with you might have to enlarge or tweak the existing holes to have them line up and give you the proper gear mesh.

Interesting.....I figured it was removed for a reason especially after looking at the pics. Ill have to mess with the other holes some more and see what I can do to get it to line up.

Thanks man! They obviously got here right on time and exactly what I was looking for. Stay tuned for build # where I put that chassis to use too.

What he said. That actually looks pretty good. I have seen some pretty serious hack jobs before.

Thanks guys. That did the trick. I had to adjust the holes but it worked perfectly.

I had to do the same to my cases when I went with the D_Lux Delrin axle tubes and Harvo done a pretty dang good job on doing it . And I even had to go with a metric pinion gear

If the snow won't let up, i'm going to have to waterproof everything. hahaha Only update i've done recently is, Brood motors in mine. Replaced the Integy motors. I can't believe I didn't get a good set of motors sooner. Wow what a difference.

Brood motors and and some high traction granite sure brought the pain.

I'm looking at the SDS replacements but no one has anything in stock, of course. So i'm looking at all options really.
