The rear end has limited travel. Meaning during the motion of travel it does have it does not bind.

It may be hard to tell on a RC rig but go built a couple 1:1s. Things don't move as much as you think they do. During the travel of the axle it will actually take quite a but of shock stroke before the axle starts to move side to side from the panhard bar acting on it.
Now do the math - most kitted out 1:1s use 14in or bigger coilovers. What size does most scalers use and what is that in comparison?
Been building 1:1 off road rigs for going on 20 years and you are right about how suspension acts on full size rigs. But the flip side to that is these toys are 1:10 scale which translates to a 14" king coilover is 1.4" travel shock on these r/c's. And just as the shock travel equates mathematically so does suspension geometry.

If you would actually have read monkeyracers post you'd see he's using hard mathematics and basic geometry to prove the point rather than being a "internet arm chair suspension genius". Facts is facts, you don't have to like them.

Ok start a 4link for dummies thread or PM me but let's stop choking up the mans build thread.

I'm not saying your math in triangles is wrong - I'm telling you, you aren't reading his post explaining why it works.

Lets just see how the build goes and see the result. If the (insert name here) bar works, it works. If it doesn't then Hacksaw has enough skill to figure it out.

My educated guess is that there is enough slop in the rod ends to allow this 5 link to cycle on the limited travel, but there has to be play somewhere that allows it to work, maybe in the chassis, maybe in the shock shafts, but without that fudge-factor, math would prevent it from working.

Ok... Ok...

If you all would have read the first part of the build, I said I put the track bar on to stop the excessive axle sway, It was a temporary fix, as the person I got the axle from drilled out the upper link holes? I'm waiting to hear back from Rc4wd about a replacement. You are all correct it should be binding like a mother......, but there's so much play in it that it isn't.

So that being said please start your own threads on Triangles, math vortexs, 1:1 building, taxes and whatever else gets you out of bed in the morning, just keep that shit out of my thread please.

And I never said backwoods that's just offensive

Hope to get this build back on track with updates soon.........

Glad you cleared that up. I just hate seeing this kind of thing giving n00bs ideas, then they break their junk, and cry about how they saw it work on this rig.

Back to topic. Tube work. Let's see some progress.

Did you lock or leave the front diff open?

And I for one LIKE the 5 link idea. You can build your how you want, but 5 links are the bees knees.

I understand the concept of the axles and I know they work and are pretty expensive. I just don't like the looks, to me they look broken. Oh well, just my opinion.

Made some progress last night. I picked up some 3/16" tube from my local steel supplier, Its nice to work with as it's not plated and has a thicker wall than brake line, you can tap it 6-32 and get full depth treads, just under $10 for a 20' stick
I made the cage bolt on so if it gets tweaked in a hard crash I can remove it without hurting the main chassis and if i want to change bodies I can make a cage to match that body. Still need to clean it up, but here's the rough version.

I threw that tire on the back to see what you all think, should I mount one or not? Also you can see I had to remove the black anodize from the upper
link mount as I welded up the holes and re drilled them, so no more 5th link needed. The last pic shows the (4 ) 6-32 screws that mount the cage to the skid. still need to finish the front bumper, ran out of beer last night so I went to bed...
