Default Hydroplaning info/setups thread

Figured I would post a thread specific to using FOFF rigs for water crossings (hydroplaning), in order to try to collect as much information on the topic in one place as possible.

Anyone who has experience with driving their FOFF rig across the surface of a pond or other body of water, please post your setups/tips/tricks/ideas/etc. As much information as we can put together on the topic as possible would be great. I figure building a rig for this type of driving can be one of the trickiest things to do currently in the RC hobby, so please help out those of us interested in doing so.

Please also feel free to post videos/pictures of your water crossing attempts/accomplishes.

So, post it if you got it!

Traxxas rustler 3s with a 90T spur, Proline paddles in the rear, ribbed stock traxxas tires in the front. Over heats if I run it on dry ground but the good about water crossings you have built in cooling lol

front biased weight distribution and light weight equals water crossing for my rig. I've skipped it across short 15ft ponds without fail. Make sure everytings waterproofed and you may even fill the body with expandable foam so it floats in case of a mid-pond mishap.

Interesting note about the front biased weight distribution - is that to negate the possibility of wheelies on the surface of the water?
