I can't afford a build with new stuff but heard one guy locally have about 1700 into his. If you got the cash a lot of guys are upgrading and selling off their comp ready rigs for around 500 and saw a nice berg for about 700. I got a few in trade and building one tuber which is pretty much a ax10. The next one will have bully moa's so that one will pretty much get over the $500 range because most of that stuff will be new.

if u build from scratch yea thats what ur looking at. if u buy second hand mostly new or even lightly used u can cut that in half or u can buy a basic crawler off of the forums and upgrade from there. if u do it this way u can look at spending under 500 for a running rig then upgrade as u wish. i got mine rtr for 350 and after upgradeing and trial and error im at over 1100 invested but i have also sold and bought off a few things i didnt like or need. so it all depends on where u want to go in the future. u could like ur chasis one month and the next want to change it out or ur rig could take a flying leep and have to buy new wheels and tires who knows with these guys ur allways working and replaceing things and if u get a used one from someone who takes care of there toys u coudl really walk out saving alot of money with replaceing a few key areas.

Depends on how good you drive and how good are the people you are driving against. I have finished as good as 4th out of 30 with a basically stock AX10 with a home made dig and improved tires. Some of the guys still use a similar set up and are still doing well. So money helps in some regards, but throwing money at a truck doesn't make it competative. EDIT: I have also finished as bad as 26th with my newer BERG |

I stoped counting somewhere around $700-$800. lol That's not incuding the radio system, battery charger, and tools. You don't have to buy everything at once though, you can always get a rig and upgrade it slowly over time if you like. |

I expect I'm well over $2000 but I'm too scared to calculate the exact amount.

well I bought everything for my sons axial rig and I spent right arround $1000 on his. If I would have bought everything that went on my axial it would have ran me almost $1500. I am in the process of building a Berg and I will have about $1300 in it, and that doesn't include wire an deans ends ETC.

| Its basiclly 1:10th the cost. To build a competative 2.2 comp rig your gonna spend $1000+ and to have a capable and durable 1:1 your Gonna spend $10,000+ it all scales down. I spend $25 on R&P's for the axial and $250 for R&P for the 1:1

The best way to lower the overall cost of a RC Crawling budget is to drive what ever you buy for more than 6 months or a year. $1100 - 1400 is a dam nice rig IMO and about what it takes. I'm driving the same rig with some upgrades and repairs for the it's third year and it still does well and that equals lots of smiles for very few bucks. What ever you buy drive it into the ground. I myself got in to this thinking it was going to be cheap and easy way to get out doors a do something fun. Well getting out doors and having fun was completed but I'm still spending money on my buggy. I think I have been bitten again by the money gobblers!! i think these little crawlers are supper fun and can't wait to build one my self. I bought my crawler used for about 200.00 then it needed servos, radios, batteries about another 400.00 in diffrent stuff with all that it's a pretty cool little outfit... thats my opinion. |
