| HPI Crawler King vs. Axial Honcho
Is there really enough diff between these trucks to justify the big diff in price? Im really surprised the SCX10 doesnt have beadlocks! I also can't believe the Crawler king has an fm transmitter and not 2.4ghz!

buy the honcho, you'll spend less with the honcho than you will in repairs for the wheely king

How did you get to the wheely king? He's asking about the crawler king. And yea, get the honcho. Or do it the hard way and get the CK and then realize you wish you would've gotten the honcho. Your choice.

| Re: HPI Crawler King vs. Axial Honcho More power? That would come down to motor and battery choice nothing to do with truck vs truck. Axial will be the smarter choice in the short and long run.

yeah you may be right about the battery part. but the only reason you are right id because they dont come with a battery, so when you buy a battery you of couse you would by the better battery... besides the fact, the crawler king has a 55t motor so it already has more tourqe, along with that it has a stronger transfercase with metal gears... as for the honcho it has a 27t motor so it has almost half as much tourqe as the crawler king, also it has plastic gears in the transfercase... and plus the crawler king is cheaper... dont get me wrong im not trying to say the honcho is crap, because its not. i even give cudos to axil for making an awsome truck but if your wanting more tourqe and a steadier throttle the crawlerking is the way to go.

Old thread and he made the right decision in the end, but the best answer to this would have been to look at the build threads sections and see whats used most. SCX10 is in an overwhelming majority of the builds compared to every other kind of setup available combined. Matt |

Neither truck has a transfer case and neither truck comes with metal transmission gears.. The 55t vs 27t sounds good but the axial has a better motor, esc and gearing. I've driven both box stock on the same 2s battery and the honcho had better low speed throttle resolution and plenty more speed... Ps I'm not bashing the king I've had one since 06, but the axial is a supior truck hands down!!! | |

wrong, wrong and um, wrong!!! each truck dose have a transfercase. because if the didn"t the wheels would spin in oposite directions and the only reason why the honcho has more speed is because it has a lower turn motor so its going to go faster, with less power.

They do not have transfer cases. Only Transmissions. The most comparable thing to a transfer case on an RC is if you put a dig unit on.

I once had a scaler that had a Axial TRANSMISSION the was hooked up to a WK TRANSMISSION that acted like a transfer case. But it blew up the crappy gears all the time so I switched back to just having a Axial TRANSMISSION.
