Post What size of motor to use in a Venom Creeper

So i just got my venom creeper built, Im new to this so im not sure as to what kind of motor to use. but im deff going brushless with a 3 cell 2200 mah lipo. what kv should i use? and what is the difference between 18T 20T? I have to use a 540 motor. Any and all help would be great.

Brushless motors work best where horse power is at issue, like high speed applications. Brushed motors work best where torque is king, like crawling.

IMO, a 35T brushed motor hits the sweet spot You can spend anywhere from $10 to $100 for a brushed motor. Obviously, the more expensive motors will give you way more options, such as choice of turns, higher efficiency, timing, longevity, and rebuild ability.

That being said, I run the $10 motors with no complaints.

Some ESC's will run both brushless and brushed motors...which one did you get?

is there a way to run taller skinnier tires on a venom creeper to crawl over bigger stuff with the same 35 turn motor or would you have to change to a bigger turn for more torque?

It all depends on your driving style...you'll have to give it a try and see if it's a good fit

Dont do that. pizza cutters look horrible on a rock crawler.

WHile a taller tire will gain ground clearance, you also raise the CoG which sucks in climbs & sidehills.

Check out the Creeper forum and read the stickies, there is a ton of info there. RMD is about the best vendor out there for support & parts for the Creeper.
