I just finished laying out all the rocks to my new backyard course. What do you guys think???? Alright, maybe I just wish this was it. It's a 2 to 4 hour (depending on which photo you are looking at) treacherous hike up Wedge Mountain, just North of Whistler, British Columbia ***sorry for the sideway photo's*** |

Wow, that is a perfect balance of the wife being incredibly happy about all the rocks in the backyard and us being incredibly happy to crawl all over them!

Don't any of you have farmers in your area? They pick stones every year, and have a stock pile someplace. Knock on some doors, would be very suprised if you'd be charged. Farmers around here would likely load the damn things for you,,,

| Re: Backyard Crawler Course My backyard is abundant with river rock of all sizes so we just pile them up and move them around for new lines. Here's Barbie enjoying the rock pile. And the Komodo Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Last night I took a quick walk behind the brush line at the edge of my lawn where I have a huge pile of rocks that were dumped when my back yard got torn up for the new septic. I haven't been back there in 10 years. Behind the pile of rocks is a real nice open-ish spot between the rock pile and the brook, along with a pile of cement that was pulled from the driveway long before I bought the house. I've already got a pre-made crawler course!!! I just need to clean out some brush, and fill in some of the larger gaps between boulders. Sweet!

A friend of mine is a landscaper, so when he was cleaning out a customers broken concrete walkway for a new brick pathway that he was going to install, I had him drop the debris in my yard. Didn't cost me anything, and it didn't cost him to take it to the dump |

I'm digging the idea of a large "Rock" garden in my back yard. My wife wasn't crazy about putting a dirt/clay short course track in the back.....

| Re: Backyard Crawler Course LOL neither was mine. I still haven't made my rock garden yet, but starting to brainstorm it now. Kinda cool you can make a rock garden and have it be a "hidden" crawler course haha.

This the current state of my front yard, affectionately named Rock Island - when I started there were no rocks |

Some impressive setups here!! Me and my boys generally go back in our property and crawl a creek bed or something, which is cool, but nothing like what's been posted in this thread. Hats off!

I joined a local rock hounding club. With every trip I bring home some yard ornaments along with other smaller specimens. I now have more hobbies and they build on each other. By the end of next year I should have a fairly unique rock garden to crawl. Last edited by scaled; 10-04-2017 at 04:06 PM. |

What I didn't show are the rocks and boulders I have lining the street and the boulder wall in the back yard. Started crawling in the front park strip and made a path on the boulder wall out back. THe rocks shown are new this summer/fall. More work is needed for a complete course. Will work itself out in time.

| Re: Backyard Crawler Course Man, that looks really nice. I need to get the wife on board with this idea; it'd save us some yardwork/maintenance hassle, and the whole family would enjoy running scale crawlers across it.
