Some updates on the "shoes" department of the frankenscout... First try so spare me some slack! Duratrax DeepWoods 2.2 sidewalls with chyrax 1.9 tread (took a tire and a 1/4 to get to the desired width). They are going to be mounted on Crawler Innovations 1in rims with .225 hubs and C.I Double Deuce 6in narrow comp cut inner/soft outer foams. On top CI 1in rims versus stock.. Rear tires went on a scissor/loctite 406 kind of diet... to match the fronts width. I had previously removed some lugs and did some sipping. Last edited by Vagos2; 06-06-2018 at 10:14 PM. |

First time on the rocks for the new "puzzle" tires and CI 1in wheels.. Seaside rocks with super high traction for testing grounds, I tried hard and nothing de-laminated so I guess I did a good job gluing them.. |

Carrying on with the upgrades, I have installed a CC 2.0 waterproof BEC. I have also finished with the rear tires.. Duratrax 2.2 sidewalls glued to super soft buggy tires tread, it took roughly one and a third to get to 150mm/5.9 in. Last edited by Vagos2; 07-16-2018 at 09:11 AM. |

It's been quite some time since I updated this thread but here are the latest mods... Front cut n' shut tires are gone and replaced by voodoo golds that were an incredible update (along with 6in DD soft narrow comp cut foams)! Old shitty gearbox is now scratch build with a wraith housing and all steel gears. I have also changed the frame a bit (...yes still using scrap aluminium ..lol) to accommodate 92mm shorter shocks upfront and give more forward cant (with an "a" not a "u" you dirty minds ) to the skid . Awesome job on figuring things out, scratch fabricating and using what you have on hand to make an awesome crawler. |

I just love those pins, and even wth .225 hubs they barely touch everything. Shitty old chinesium shocks returned upfront since the previous black ones leaked badly and are on the "hospital". Additionally I am testing a new frame cnc cut on 5mm Plexiglas that seems to hold good so far... I also made new links out of 4 mm titanioum with "cleaner" lines and much better finish (I get better and better on this...lol) |

Hi, That is a fantastic build! You seems like a very capable guy, so may I ask a question? Maybe you can help me. I have a stock maverick scout, just as yours at the beginning. Today, while I was playing with it, it suddenly stopped turning right. It can turn to the left, but can't turn back. And when I try to turn it by hand to right it doesn't let me. There is also a struggling noise in the servo when I force to turn it. It I turn the car off, I can turn it to left and right too by hand with ease. So the question is, which part died on me? Servo? Receiver? Or its brain? |
