These things are sweet, the steering is the best I have seen on a 2ws rig. I only ran my rig for about 5 minuntes and POP! The damn rear (stock) axle snapped just past the ball (like always) so I didn't get to do much testing with mine. I'll get her patched up Sunday and try to get some more time on them over the weekend.

So bender, since you had your truck on the rocks, how much you say the steering improved ? Also, are these going to have the same problem that other mip cvd's have, where the pin like to "just fall out" ?

I have not had any problem with the pin "falling out" on my clod cvd's and they are made by the same place. I would say the steering is at least 50% better, I cut a groove in the housing about an 8th of an inch deep and still could go more, or grind the arm on the knuckle (mine are plastic so I didn't) But Brad did and they turn fawkin sharp!

Never had an issue w/ the Clod CVDs and they are made by MIP I beleive.

I haven't had any problems with the pins coming loose. A dab of blue lock tight will usually fix that. That's what I did to my Maxx CVD's, and I could still get them apart for maintenance.

I've heard you can just put some big heat shrink around the part of the CVD where the pin is. That should keep it from comming loose even if the internal screw loosens.

Well I have been beating on mine for the past week. And I am very impressed. The steering alone is worth every pennie. The improved turning radius is awsome.

I've got the RCP page bookmarked

One problem I've had with MIP and similar hardened steel CVD's is that the tolerances are so tight that rust can become an issue. Any forseen problems for guys that like to get their trucks wet?

I had mine out in the snow for the past few days and took them apart today to inspect them and there was no sign of rust.

I met up with Kris today while waiting for Jason to eat lunch so we could get in some trigger time, I think these CVD's are cursed! Every time I take my rig out lately something happens so I can't even try to break the dang things! Last time I broke a rear stock axle shaft, today I took a small tumble into about 3'' of water. It didn't even get above the steering servo or lipo but I had no radio function at all! We went to meet Jason at his place and barrow the air compressor to dry things out and.... WHOO HOOO! It worked, so we loaded up and went over to the Weston to crawl the "DRY" man made rock. I drove maybe two lines and things started acting up, I never saw any magic smoke or smelled any cooked electronics but it is DEAD AS A DOORNAIL! So I had to drive Bastard's 2.2 midget Hustler, and got a little dual stick time with Jason's 8x8 too. Tomorrow I'll see what's up with the radio and try to get her running again!
