Default Suspesnion Question

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this.

If I use lighter oil or lighter springs the RC will lower under itself under its own weight and therefore have a lower COG at that point and time sitting there.

My question?

If my shocks are soft and I am side hilling won't the weight on the up hill shock transfer, unload the top shock but more load on the lower shock and cause a greater chance of tipping?

In short, yes.

There are droop setups, that use a spring to pull the shock shaft back into the shock. This helps with the unloading. Sway bars help as does finding the right balance between spring stiffness and oil thickness.

Yup, it's a balance between weight distribution on the truck, suspension link setup, shock mountings, shock oil and shock springs. You can always increase the shock oil weight to keep the shocks action under control and or put internal spacers inside the shock body to limit them from drooping out too much. Several factors to tune.

You need to understand that EVERYTHING in a suspension setup is a compromise. You improve one aspect of performance at the expense of another.

I'll chime in with that not only do I agree with the other posters here, but there is also no "one" setting for all terrain. I find it very worth the while to experiment and make notes.

This way you can set up for the next adventure that awaits!
