| Looking for an enjoyable build
Hello all, fast and simple question I am looking for the most enjoyable kit build out there. The long of it, I am bored and feel the need to tinker. I am not new to building things and enjoy tedium. I don’t enjoy tedium due to poor quality though. Not even particular to any typed of crawler, suspension type, or price. I just want a off/road rc of good quality and most of all I want to build one. So hit me with your knowledge! Thanks for your time.

The new kid on the block is the SCX10III. Best kit I’ve built in a long time, lots of stuff to put on the body. It’s a Jeep , that can make it or break it. Hang up and Drive |

The Traxxas Sport kits are pretty good, and they crawl really well as well |

Have a look at the Cross kits, interesting scale offers, good fit, hard body. https://www.crossrc.us |

Though it's the lowest performing crawler I own, the Gmade Sawback (the leaf sprung version) was the most enjoyable of my models to build. It's an outdated design, uses phillips head hardware (I bought an allen head kit from the get go) and e-clips on driveshaft pins, it was just more satisfying to build, and for some reason, it's more relaxing to run. If you actually want good performance, I'd be giving the scx10.3 a good hard look. Plenty of details and doodads to keep you busy building and getting dialed in. |

The vs410 kit is what I’m building now and there is a lot of different things you can do.

x2 for the TRX-4 Sport kit, my most enjoyable kit so far. My GMade BOM was a close second.

Trail King. Great platform with very nice parts for a fair price. Offset front axle, titanium links, scale transmission etc. It is a builder kit. So you will need body and wheels too. But there is no need to upgrade anything on the chassis really. Trail King Pro Scale Chassis - Builders Kit Last edited by GrimmTheTourist; 04-28-2020 at 07:30 AM. |

You want an off-road RC - do you mean a slow trail rig or a go-fast rig? For scale trail rigs you simply can't beat the TRX-4 build. It's the best kit out there. The manual is great, the parts are super high quality, and everything fits together perfectly. I also really enjoyed my SSD Trail King. The SCX10 III is another option, but I still think the TRX-4 is the better build and definitely more fun. Oh and if you want to spend a lot more, the Vanquish VS4-10's are fun to build as well. |

Out of all the rigs I've had, the rc4wd trailfinder was the most fun to tinker with. Making a leaf sprung truck work is a lot of fun.

I will second the Cross Rc scale hardbody kits, GC4, HC4, HC6, etc.. Fun to build and look at.

Just a reminder that he said "I don’t enjoy tedium due to poor quality though." Nothing about RC4WD is high quality and sometimes they require tinkering just to get parts to fit. The hardware is almost unusable at times. That's as tedious as tedium gets IMO. I haven't personally built a Cross RC, although I want to, but I saw Harley struggle through almost everything in his live build. Things had to be ground down or drilled. That's tedium as well. |

I had a lot of fun putting my Gmade GS02 kit together, though if you do go that route, I would get the GS02 TA Pro kit. You will need your own body, electronics and wheels and tires, though.

Seems like no one mentions Element Enduro Builder Kit yet, I'll throw in my vote for it. I built one nearly 2 months ago and it was an enjoyable experience. Instructions are clear (mostly). The few mistakes I made were totally my own!

I also vote for the SSD Trail King. Everything about it oozes quality. Parts fitment is perfect to snug. Very well engineered all around with no inherent flaws. It's also quite the performer.

My wife recently assembled the TRX4 Sport kit and it was only her 2nd ever RC build. The manual was great and the quality is industry leading, proof of that is that she needed virtually no help from me (other than for the electronics)!! I'm wrapping up a G-Made Bom build and can say it's also a lot of fun. Quality almost on par with the TRX4, but the rear suspension setup is very interesting for those that like cool mechanical things. |
