LOL! At least it is using TXT axles! All I have read lately is about XF axles and how great they are because they are so wide.

They really are great axles. Nice an wide and very, very strong!

However, when you have a truck that is litterally stuck to the ground, hence the name Belly Dragger, you don't need to worry about width as much!

That's as much as I'll say at this point. The ooooooo's and aaaaaaaah's will have to wait until the unveiling!

I am picturing John Bundrants "Tiny". The "Moon Buggy" fad is making its way to RCcrawlers.

I am curious as to how low belly clarance will work on an RCcrawler. I think it is one of the most crucial parts of an RC (along with low COG and wheelbase. I can think of some simple obstacles in my yard that would be impossible without and belly clearance, no matter how low the COG is.
Now if you could make an RC with kongs and still be able to operate nomally while UPSIDE DOWN. Now we are talking!!!!!!!!!

It's funny, I was thinking of that the other day. VERY fesable in the RC world. It would just take some careful planning during the build up. The only thing I could see is while upside down Rev. would become foward and turning left would become turning right. Although not really that big of a deal. Might get a hairy at times. Just have to pay close attention as to weither your upside down or rightside up.

Imagine:

Your in a tight spot (how's my hair) and need to react real quick and you react as if your rightside up,naturally. You are really upside down and turn left instead of right and fall off a 20 foot ledge :o

Well,
I went and tried my Kongs on Project BD and it will sit upside down with the tires on the ground. I would have to run with no body if I wanted to do that and I would drag the tranny over rocks. The BFT's seem perfect for this project.
I still have about 5 inches of clearance under the belly. This thing is going to be nearly impossible to roll over while crawling. The suspension has no up travel.....all down travel with savage shocks.
The top of my CJ8 body sits at about 9 inches! It's almost not even as tall as a jumbo Kong. Anxious to work more on the suspension today. Will have pics by Tuesday.

BTW,
I just took an accurate measurement of the belly clearance and it is right at 4.25 inches. When complete, it should be about 4.5.

Here are some pics.
I'm a long way off from getting it done. It will probably even sit lower than shown in the pics. Like I said.....a loooooooong way to go.
