Have to say, I'm not convinced those wheels in the images are 1.9 wheels.

I'm not sold either way. In the first picture it looks massive, it dwarfs the guy standing behind it.

But then he puts his hand on it, and it looks much much smaller. Or he has huge hands?

Let's try to calculate the wheel size from a known dimension. 21t Titan is 1.46 in diameter (so says the internet) Perspective is off a bit, and the wheel is closer, so we'll be off a bit. But...

.976/.595 = 1.64

1.46 x 1.64 = 2.39"

With the disparity in depth, I'd say that's damn close to 2.2

Another cross-post for that:

Quote:
I fully agree with both of you guys honestly. They genuinely look like 2.2 tires. However, the Traxxas rep I was talking to was super adamant that they were 1.9 tires.... I guess time will tell what size they actually are.
Maybe the Traxxas Rep is stuck in Traxxas scale world where 1.9 = 2.2 and 1/10 = 1/8. I wonder what kind of promo vid they'll shoot for a truck that can't do more than 10 mph, they've been obsessed with hydroplaning the Slash and giving away XO-1s.

I'm just quoting this for emphasis

That, and I never trust a salesman, and all the rep is, is a salesman.

With the math in the equation, what is your assumption on the focal length of the lens used to take the image.
Remember the huge hand ? Distortion common with a wide angle lens. "Spy" camera looks, super wide angel normally used in that distance

You can see barreling on the end of the sign.

I think I'm believing more what Traxxas "sources" are saying than speculating

I don't see distortion in any of those photos, looks like cell phone shots to me.

I'll remove any distortion or perspective.

7mm wheel nut to wheel diameter.

120.737/14.428 = 8.37

7mm x 8.37 = 58.58mm

58.58/25.4 = 2.3"

I'm fairly confident they're 2.2 wheels.

What's the battery plugged into? Grey plug with small AWG wires goes where? Notice that there's a black plug on the ESC connected to nothing.

Small wires going to the battery connector are the stupid TRX proprietary connector, balance and power in one. The whole grey plug is for the battery, the small wires are just behind it.

So after the grey plug the small wires go to the black box and then what? Nothing is plugged in anywhere on it. I assume all the servos and ESC (5 things) go to the receiver. The receiver gets all its power from that black box? Is it like a BEC also?

No idea. Servos and all go to the box on the other side. The grey connector looks like it plugged in to the battery, it's a black connector in the other picture.

So what's they rx looking box for? Lights? Doesn't look like there's room for a second battery, so you either get lights or driving, one at a time

From another angle. Who knows that box is for, sure looks like an rx or splitter for lights?

It is very hard to do the math on the size of the vehicle based on photos unless you know what lens was used and what camera. I mean look at some people's photos in the forums. Some have the vehicles looking like a 1:1.

Comparing a wheel nut to the wheel it's mounted to is easy. I'm not taking measurements off the photo, I'm comparing a known measurement (7mm wheel nut) to the rim. I don't care what the 7mm nut "measures" it's just a reference for the wheel. If you have a picture of a dinner plate with a nickle on it, and know the diameter of a nickle, you can easily calculate the diameter of the plate. The actual measurement on the photo is irrelevant.

Traxxas forum seems to think that box is the light controller, hacked with an external power supply so the whole truck isn't sitting on the shelf turned on.

If you know these wheels are 26" across, you can find the length of the car with a measurement program and simple math.

Here's something to think about, a 1.9 wheel has an OD normally of around 2.2". While a 2.2 wheel typically has an OD of 2.5".

So your pic may actually lead more to that wheel being a 1.9.

If that's the case then 1.9 it is! The only 2.2 I have sitting here measures 2.38ish.

SSD 1.9 wheels have a max OD of just under 2.1".

maslin: Your estimates/calculations are inconclusive as the numbers are in between 1.9 and 2.2 wheels.

My eyes tell me the proportions look 2.2 but I could be wrong as they are not the best images.

4.5-4.7 inches tall by a rough measurement off Maslin's pic.

That assumes the OD of the rims is between 2.1-2.3 inches.

115-120mm roughly. Ambiguously 1.9-2.2 sizes...still nowhere.
