The drag brake will hold my rig with a handwound motor. I have not tested it with a cheaper brushed motor. The next firmware release will give an increase to drag, but there will also be a hold brake feature which will allow just about any motor to completely lock up at neutral throttle.

So basically the controller will have two independent drag feature types. Hands down it will have the most controllable and versatile drag available, as well as strength to lock up nearly anything if you really want.

hello! I have a goat 2s with a 18.5 motor. Interested in your 7 turn puller and your new esc. Will drag brakes be comparable?

BigB_117 09-27-2009 01:33 PM

New ESC is looking great John. I really like all the features and you've got me wanting to sell my FXR to try one out "thumbsup" no power switch or bec should make for a really clean install.

will it linkup to a pc over USB or will a castle link be needed?

Anyone have a size comparison pic next to another ESC? (fxr, mamba, etc)

They will be very strong with the puller, and will not freecoast when you give it throttle like novak units do.

hey jrh, jut wanted to let you know that i am asolutely loving these things. i have 2 in my berg at the moment, its amazing how much smoother they are then my mambas. for some reason, the truck seems punchier aswell

The_kernel114 09-28-2009 12:07 AM

so if i was running this esc and a jr 8711 steering servo and a 645mg dig servo, with a 35 handwound on 3s i wouldn't have any problems?
or would i need a external bec?
just trying to clarify this, so i can decide on what to spend my money on lol.

jason 09-28-2009 12:21 AM

Ordered 2 of these, I cannot wait to get my hands on them and install them into my berg!

I know JRH has put a TON of time and effort into these to make 100% sure they were right. JRH is an OG crawler guy, to have him here developing products directly for us and not just rebadging shit made in China is a huge asset to the crawling community.

Now what do I do with these 10 mamba maxes I have?

mann0mann 09-28-2009 03:16 AM

John, I'm sorry if I missed this. What is the motor limit for dual motors?

Flyin Hawaiian 09-28-2009 07:37 AM

When installing both esc's do i just remove the red wire from one esc's and leave the other?

You should have no problem with this, as long as your dig servo isn't constantly binding and asking a couple of amps. I don't use dig servos so I am not particularly sure of the needs for one in a bind.

Not sure yet. Stock emaxx on 4s lipo runs very well, so in a crawler you won't really have to worry about anything.

You can, but I run them both plugged in with no worries.

renoirbud 09-28-2009 10:29 AM

I have received mine, and will build a Berg for this ESC this week.

My most important test will be if the BEC can handle my Futaba Servo (S9157). I am confident it will.

I hope that the ESC weighs the same as one FXR, a CC BEC and the wiring. That way I will have the exact same weight only, it will be a cleaner set up.

Thank you John for a great product.

Is that an update exclusive to your ESC's or is it for all the Castle controllers?

JohnRobHolmes 09-28-2009 12:18 PM

Just for my ESC.

JohnRobHolmes 09-30-2009 09:30 AM

7 more up on the site. After this we will have to wait for the next production run for more. Can't believe how fast they went!

ecoli 09-30-2009 09:31 AM

Out of stock :-(! I know you mentioned in the other thread you plan on having these available as long as there's demand, so when it does go out of stock, about how long should we expect to wait to see them back in stock?

JohnRobHolmes 09-30-2009 09:46 AM

For the second batch it may be as long as six weeks. Once they are done I do not plan to be out of stock any more. I wanted to wait for the first batch to order the second. Six weeks for production, one week to sell out. You do the math

dub599 09-30-2009 04:49 PM
