Got the front end completely wrapped up after the in-laws left today.

Used some sheet steel (22ga if I remember right) to brace the upper links. Cool thing about this brace is that it doubles as the servo tray.

Used some Associated servo mounts to get things in place. The steering link in the pics is from a TLT kit. It'll get replaced with a 4-40 rod sleeved with carbon tube.

Cool thing about this setup is that the servo still moves with the axle. I tried and tried and I can't find a bit of bump steer in the system.

Mocked up for servo placement.

Upper plate after holes were drilled for the servo mounts.

Side view with servo mounted.

Now to make the rear upper link.

ROFL.

Here's a couple more images. Keep in mind the rear only has the lower two links installed at this time and not a single tire is glued.

Front shot.

The flex shot. No battery is installed yet, even with the fuel tubing "bump stops" on the shock shafts, the shocks still have more travel in them. The tire will actually rub the frame at full stuff. I also have fuel tubing inside the shock bodies (on the shaft) to limit droop.

You could make a servo plate that would attach to the axle using the four screws around the diff area.

I figured I'd go this route first just for the heck of it.

Ralph is pretty sweet JIA. Wasn't able to see him in person in Tampa when you were here. Would love to have a replica of him.

Those axles are hugacious, they should be a much better match to Ralph and his powerplant than those wimpy TLT axles.

JIA, I see you were able to fill the frotn axle. What does it cost to do this??? Do you know if HPI is packaging a conversion for the WK yet???

Oh I love Ralph by the way.

As of now it'll cost you two Wheely King kits. All the parts required for the 4WD conversion aren't available just yet. So if you absolutely have to have a 4WD WK you'll have to buy two and use one for a donor right now.

highmark, hugacious I like it!

wayfastwhitey440, the upper link is a solid unit. There is no flex in the unit itself, just in the three ball ends at each corner. The upper link mounts on the axles are held in place by three screws and can be removed and flipped depending on if the axle is used front or rear. HPI's site has an exploded view.

Dave, Yeah, he's definitely growing up. Finally decided to transport him in style...

My dad is in town right now. He saw Ralph and the two of us were discussing when I took the rig crawling in Florida.

"When he rolled everyone said DAMMMNNN!"

Dad was like "When who rolled?"

That's when dad learned that this rig has its own personality. Folks don't refer to it as "it" but "him" or "he".

Definitely a unique rig.
