NIRC Polar Bear Series: Part Deux

Polar Series

All event will be help in the Roselle or Busse location (unless other suitable venus are found). As long as the weather holds over 20deg. and less then 6in of snow.

Scheduled events. Fun runs to follow afterwards. All events will start at 10am (or as close as we can get it) and consist of at least 10 gates for rocks or 20 gates for trail; gates to be setup by competitors at the event. Trail gates to run twice, once in reverse. For rock gates, two different courses to be setup.

Class 2 and 3 are being run. Usable scale features are encouraged, but scale points are not used in the scoring.

Scoring is as follows (correct me if I'm wrong) based on the SORRCA rules:

Progress: ‐2 points
Reverse: 1 point
Gate Marker: 10 points
Rollover: 5 points
Boundary Marker: 10 points
Vehicle Touch (Repair & Repositions): 10 points
Course Direction: 10 points
Winch: 1 point
Assisted Recovery: 10 points
Dig/Rear steer: 5 points (only counts once)
Did not finish point out +20 points
Did not start point out +50 points

In general the "spirit of the rules" will be followed as has been the case thus far.

As a rule clarification from slobin, we got the following:

"The point out is the max # of points decided on by the club before a course is considered dead, or the the highest point accrued by the last finishing driver. Then you add points to that."

After talking to Brian, since we have not declared a point total for a dead course, we'll use the "highest point accrued by the last finishing driver" as the point out. As an example, if for 5 drivers there is scores of 7, 15, 35, DNF, DNS, then the last finishing driver has a point total of 35 so the DNF would be worth 20+35 and the DNS would be worth 50+35.

I've also asked Saydee for the scores from the past two events (i.e. # of reverses, gates, progress, etc) because thats required for the DNF at very least.

I'm still unclear on the rules about DNF and DNS. Both say "point out + X pts), which I think means you get a Gate Marker (i.e. 10 points) per gate not completed? Does anyone know? I'm going to PM WarPig and ask.

Is there still time to get in on the class2 action? If there was two events already, I could "drop" one of them and then take a DNS on one of them so, I would only have to win every other event, right? Haha.
