looking good. but just a heads up, i have found that the rear shark fin works the screws loose on my super scaler. hopefully being very light you wont have this problem.

buggy 06-03-2011 10:36 PM

Thanks for the heads up"thumbsup". Im thinking about drilling them all the way through and putting nuts on them.

buggy 06-06-2011 10:47 PM

ok guys i finally got a roller!
http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/v...d/IMAG0241.jpg
http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/v...d/IMAG0245.jpg
now this steering fought me a little and the original plan was to go with bta steering, but after messing around with it a bit i decided against it. now for the servo mount, i got a servo mount plate from rick and the way i had my stuff mounted it just wasn't going to work. so after some digging i found some of the tail boom servo mounts i was pondering using at one time and it just seemed to be a perfect fit. all it took was a little trimming on 3 of the molded gussets on the center chunk.

http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/v...d/IMAG0244.jpg
http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/v...d/IMAG0246.jpg
here is a shot i got from under the skid looking at how i rotated the rear link mounts for my perfect fit.
http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/v...d/IMAG0247.jpg
lots of good mounting holes for shocks
http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/v...d/IMAG0249.jpg
http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/v...d/IMAG0250.jpg
and one from the side
http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/v...d/IMAG0251.jpg
i'll just tell you guys, i've never built a bigger crawler than a 2.2 before and im diggin it!

The front castor is way off

Morten

PS cool build "thumbsup"

buggy 06-07-2011 12:43 AM

yep, i just got it rolling tonight. i usually shoot for around 3 to 5 degrees of negative caster"thumbsup". with it as a roller now the fine tuning will come shortly.

buggy 06-07-2011 12:44 AM

and by the way, cool chassis design "thumbsup"

v84x4 06-07-2011 05:16 AM

Man........

This build is coming together nice "thumbsup"
So what did your WB come out to?

I like the Steering setup........
It just gave me an idea for a lower link mount
with a servo mount incorporated into it "thumbsup"

Great Job Buggy

thanks rick, the WB is 16 inches on the money.

i think i may know what your talking about on that mount, ;-)

mjderstine 06-07-2011 08:28 AM

that looks awesome man!!! great job!

Rich. my mind probably imagined the same servo mount when i saw those pics too. an integrated mount might be kinda sweet!

cant wait to se it running. what are you gonna power it with?

buggy 06-07-2011 08:53 AM

I have a hh 10t puller that I will be using. I remember seeing the videos of reflection's super using a 10t and it was impressive.

got a serious question...

what is the thickness of the slum frame. i was posting this on another forum i help moderate for some buddies of mine who love nothing but bashing, and they were concerned it might be too thin for serious high speed bashing. they suggested that anything less than 3mm is too thin.

a: what do you think?

b: what is the thickness?

also had this comment from a friend online who has bashed more things than i can count.

anything with a "cab" like that is prone to getting tweaked in a wreck, seen alot of those redcat trucks and guys just barely flipping and they bend all to crap granted im sure their aluminum is integy quality but even savage guys will remember the early days before they beefed the tvps up...just sayin lol

Also I see a weak area right at the rear side windows for sure want more tubes there.

I had a hole marked there but it was not drilled on this chassis

I also planed to use lexan side covers and an alloy roof and bonnet

Morten

mjderstine 06-07-2011 09:59 AM

bonnet huh? i take it you ride a lift to the top floor too :)

v84x4 06-07-2011 11:49 AM

Well........
This chassis is just the proto type
All holes will come on the Production chassis
And the chassis will be available in 1/8 scale & 1/10 scale

There are supposed to be 2 more cross members for support
But tell your friends to look for buggy's video because I have a feeling
He's gonna beat on this thing pretty good   (I hope)

I wont tell you any more cuz (TOP SECRETE) This is buggy's build thread ;-)
But wait till you see the finished product.........:flipoff:

this is the bottom of my M&M fab buggy. that's just the stock axial tvp's, and it weighs 10 pounds, and i beat the hell out of it with my t8 combo, and this all the damage i have ever done to it and it holds up fine

honestly i don't like the look of all the holes. but with that being said if you are going to sell a production chassis, then you need multiple mounting holes because all builds are different.

and to be completely honest i don't see the need for the extra cross member at the bottom of the b-pillar. i may have to eat my words and put one there but for right now i aint worried about it.

it will have some lexan panels ;-), be patient guys, don't put the cart before the horse:)
