Yeah, I like that idea, too! I think a call to a metal shop is in order.

Did some weldin on chassis,The fuel tank ,the square part on the frame rail I cut it off , then I cut a left over piece of plastic and welded it on the frame where the hole was ,turned out good ,then I removed the muffler mount off the body .I also made a simple set of rock sliders and they work good ,It is crawling as well as my neighbors ax10 on the rock plie,,KMS

Nice work on that gas tank removal. Looks like it came that way. I left mine for mounting reasons. Lol one extra place to keep the body snug on the chassis. Rock sliders look good too.

I'm trying to get a bunch of pictures in my photo bucket before I start my thread. That way I am ahead of the thread and there aren't any dead spots. But everytime I look at ur thread and others I get more ideas and have to rethink my whole approach. Nice willys.

True about the alum in the rails. Prolly stiffens it up nice. No pun intended!!
I have had 2 other willys build threads. One just got bodywork before I sold it and the other got as far as being a roller, then parted it out. But this one isn't going anywhere. Hope mine turns out half as nice as this. So far I have working steering, built axles and a front bumper almost done. Now I gotta catch up to the rest of you.

Well it's time for the traxxas drive shafts , Yesterday an end popped off at u joint ,Today I made some of those ring things that go over the shaft & yoke, held in place with a allen screw,Thought IT was fixxed ,,shoot,, broke the yoke on the shaft ,, I am blaming it on the ROC-LOX ,Cant be my heavy finger & wheel speed ,NAH Still having fun with it ,just getting tired of using the battery charger to dump the pack , Robert

you could try to clamp the pinion in a vise so it doesn't move. File a tiny flat spot on the pinion shaft to help the drill bit get a bite if you don't have a 'spot center' bit.

I like how you have the interior of the body a different color than the outside, I'll need to do that to my Jeep.
