| My Willy's Build...
Start off with a special thanks to RCP Crawlers and RockinRich for advise and tips and help from the house of Willy's OG... Again with this build, I had to do things differently and install an update to the typical Willy's build. First, I went with 1.9 Pitbull Tires (Rock Beast), I love these tires and they seem to be one of the taller tires out of the 1.9 class. As I am moving from a "typical" 2.2 tire build I wanted to make it a little less capable to enhance scale appearance of the 1.9 (to me the 1:1 Willy's always had a huge wheel well arch in comparison to wheel and rim size, imo). Second, I wanted to have super turning power in this rig because the weight of all the scale items and roll cage, figures, extra servos, large battery, etc. So I decided on the HiTec (my favorite servo co.) 7980, monster torque @ 600+. That ought to "getter done" for this 13+ lbs. rig, so the clearance was an issue but RockinRich came up with a plan to get it to fit. Normal servo is a standard 7950. Third, was simple I want a brushless system that can "crawl" and "go fast" (at least for a 15lb Willy's haha), so I decided on my favorite quality system Tekin. A standard RS controller with a 3100Kv ROC motor coupled to it. On 3s, and a 70mm cooling fan (thanks RCP Crawlers for having the perfect fan size all researched out!), it should have the speed and control I am after. OK enough talk here are the pictures....
