Default Brown Yota "clone"

After sold my LC80, I decided that I wanted a new rig. I came across this rare Aoshima Hilux model kit. It was very pricey, but I've yet seen this model kit mounted on the Losi Micro Crawler yet, so thought I should give it a try.

Starting with this stock LMC, the stock wheelbase line up with the body pretty well.

Thanks. Looking forward to seeing this one come together. I'm in the middle of a 1/24 scale Datsun Micro build myself.

Ohh, Datsun?!? You gotta post up a build thread on that one!

Update: Chopped up the chassis, got the tranny fitted.

Then I notice that the tranny sit pretty far away from the frame, so I wanted to re-position it, but the bed got into the way. I had to cut out a small piece off the bed, so it will have enough room for the motor to fit.

Next, I cut up the interior floor.

After re-position, the tranny is now sit nice and flash with the frame.

Takes up so much interior space. :(

Now for a mock up with the axles.

Those Aoshima kit usually have very little room. I'm having the same problem on my double cab. Even though on the box, it says 1/24, but they seems like they are even smaller than 1/24, more like 1/28.

I would really like to find a couple more sets of those, they're the perfect size tire for 1:24th scale bodies. Where did you score yours?

Thanks Mike! You can get the original Super Swamper tires from the Aoshima model kit, high rider series, 4Runner, Hilux single cab and Hilux double cab. Those are the 3 kits that include the Super Swamper tires, or you can get the urethane version that made by a person named Paul from ebay.

RPP is where I got my first set, they've been out of stock on them for a long time though.

Damn I forgot about Paul, I did'nt know he made these. I got a set of the big Swampers from him a year or so ago. They're a bit on the bouncy side, but they are definitely grippy. They're a bit big for 1:24th scale though.

Thanks man. I've been all over Ebay tire shopping lately, I have no idea how I missed those. Because it's a Canadian auction maybe?

I did an Aoshima Range Rover Classic, it seemed a bit on the small side to me as well. I gave up on working in the interior, there just wasn't enough room.

The Swampers are the perfect size for 1:24th scale bodies.

I was gonna ask about the Mini-Z wheels, but it occurs to me that I have an AWD somewhere in my stable. I'll see if it can answer my question first...

I've also tired out the Irok Super Swamper tires he made, it's VERY grippy on dry surface, it did alright on wet surface. The only thing I don't like about them is that, they are a bit too heavy. I found them on the US Ebay by searching "Mini-Z Swamper" and they show up. Paul ship fast too. Here's a pic of my LC80, well...used to be.

I remember seeing that Rang Rover a while ago, even without the interior, it still looks very nice! I know what you mean about the interior, I'm not even sure how I will be mounting my seats in my Hilux.

As you requested (its in the scale Micro section):
Micro Datsun Build

I was torn on my build w/ the interior vs the trans hanging down. In the end, I decided I wanted the interior rather than a more scale chassis w/ the trans tucked up.

Thanks for the link to the tires. I think they'd look great under my Chevy build, & prolly would have never figured out where to get 'em.
