Re: Mastah Kyler's Chevy Silverado made my aluminum drive shafts today out of 9/32 aluminum tubing http://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/...pse600abde.jpg http://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4bce599b.jpg http://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9649791b.jpg http://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/...psd86fc3d0.jpg |
Re: Mastah Kyler's Chevy Silverado well the i am now yet another step closer to finishing (whats finished? lol) anyways i found some thread and cut out the fenders a bit for those who dont know what threading is it is when you simply use thread (yes like sowing thread) to cut the body. i found it a while ago on here but i cant seem to find it at the moment. anyways heres the new body http://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_0905.jpghttp://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_0906.jpghttp://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_0907.jpghttp://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_0908.jpg |
Re: Mastah Kyler's Chevy Silverado well im back with more (if anyone is watching this build) made the 4 link today but i have run into a problem. it seems that the ball cups are a little too tight on the ball studs and the leaf springs dont have enough power to fully recover i put a little wd40 in the cups but it didnt work. any thoughts?http://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_0909.jpghttp://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_0910.jpghttp://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_0911.jpg |
Re: Mastah Kyler's Chevy Silverado maybe the links are too short, or long? they could be pushing or pulling on the cups? idk man. are those losi ends? |
Re: Mastah Kyler's Chevy Silverado Yes they are losi cups and the lengths are damn near perfect |
Re: Mastah Kyler's Chevy Silverado I've run into this before also, check to see that the threaded rod isn't ran to far into the ball cup. That will make the fit too tight and bind, also maybe heat up the brass ball in the cup and work it around. That ought to free them up"thumbsup" Nice build you got going bud! Keep it up. |
Re: Mastah Kyler's Chevy Silverado thanks man that did the trick! |
Re: Mastah Kyler's Chevy Silverado well i managed to order 2 350mah lipos today from hobbyking as well as equipping my chevy with a winch! i used that same thing as hrddrvr used on his ford. i got one from my mom's work :D they use it to put their badges on to slide into the door. its just a spring loaded self retracting sting i guess then formed a small bit of paper clip to make the hook. i epoxied the thing itself then added a little CA glue to the knot to the hook for good measures http://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_0915.jpg http://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_0916.jpg http://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_0917.jpg |
Re: Mastah Kyler's Chevy Silverado Freaking awesome build dude. I recently went scale with mine so if you have any questions feel free to ask! I always watch these for idea's myself! :D http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/losi-...ts-images.html |
Re: Mastah Kyler's Chevy Silverado so first off i need a way to mount the body i would use magnets but now i have a winch that is connected to the body. secondly i would like to know how you mounted yyour shocks. i just got some hr shocks in a trade and id thought it be cool to have a fox suspension mach up like this http://image.truckinweb.com/f/featur...oad-wheels.jpg |
Re: Mastah Kyler's Chevy Silverado When I used my SMC chassis I used a slit in the front of the body and a clip, it's the same method the X-mods body's mounted. BUT the back end was with a pair of 4x2 lego bricks. The slot will probably have to be made, or you can use velcro. Either way I found the lego's VERY useful, unless a rock caught the rear bumper as it fell down it never came off from using a winch (I had the same setup on this truck at one point) My dad has a jeep trekker and he used velcro on the front and the rear with some custom made brackets. http://i1078.photobucket.com/albums/...2/09fa197d.jpg my rear shocks are leaf springs mounted similar to the stock setup. the front I used fencing wire from ACE Hardware, it was the right size go go through the 1:36 scale shocks, I also found soda can's are great for small brackets, and having some brass rod is good too. together with some soldering skill or jb weld you can create great brackets. as for the fox shocks you showed, get smaller springs and mount them inside the shocks instead of outside... THIS guy has ALOT of awesome idea's that can migrate to scale accessorieshttp://www.rccrawler.com/forum/losi-...ruck-fans.html, including the shocks. |
Re: Mastah Kyler's Chevy Silverado Yeah I was going to run the shocks with 100% droop so no springs or maybe experiment running no leaf springs and just shocks and a 4link |
Re: Mastah Kyler's Chevy Silverado the leafs are so soft I enjoy them. just be careful if your full droop, when it twists the upper tire may rub, one of my early trucks with droop had that issue because the body was close enough to look good flat, but at full articulation it was kinda messed up. specially with some of these model truck body's. show pics on what you do, it would be cool to see how it looks!:flipoff: |
Re: Mastah Kyler's Chevy Silverado remounted the servo vertically with JB weld also made the steering parts. http://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_0932.jpg http://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/...r/IMG_0933.jpg |
Re: Mastah Kyler's Chevy Silverado I like!!!!! I thought about doing that on a comp style rig but mount it lower then I could put a small lipo next too it kinda like on xr10s and stuff like that. But you beat me to it! |
Re: Mastah Kyler's Chevy Silverado But I would also have to find somewhere else to mount the uppers to the axel. |
Re: Mastah Kyler's Chevy Silverado eventually i will redo it with copper like this http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/micro...tf2-hilux.html |
Re: Mastah Kyler's Chevy Silverado Yea with my SMC chassis I had to mount mine vertically too, with a wire link. now I got it behind the transmission with a push-rod and L bracket. http://i1078.photobucket.com/albums/...2/bf35bbeb.jpg I made the chassis narrower too so I NEEDED it to be like this to fit (the bend was so I because I made it too long originally. ) |
Re: Mastah Kyler's Chevy Silverado Why copper over brass at this scale? it's cheaper! |
