Default Tamiya 1/32 Unimog

I just stumbled across this little guy. Love at first sight.

Tamiya calls it an "action model" and from what little information I have found I gather that you turn it on and it just goes, you can't really control it.

Now on to the real question. Do small enough RC parts exist to make this fully controllable? I love mogs and this would make the perfect desktop crawler. I know losi makes 1/36 buggys but I honestly don't know anything about them, so I'm not sure if I could graft the parts over. Any input would be appreciated.

The little minimog goes for about 8-12 dollars all over the interwebs, so even if I can't do anything with it, for that price I'd buy it anyway.

There are many more in the series, here is a link to them on the Tamiya website:

I have the Land Cruiser of the same scale. It will more likely fit the micro T or the Micro highroller which has a wheelbase of 3.25" of the Land Cruiser perfect fit for the micro high roller chassis

whats the wheelbase on that ??

Good question. I don't know what it is, but the 1:1 Unimog 413 has a wheelbase of 114 inches. if the scale is actually 1:32 then that would make it 3.56 inches. I doubt that it's exactly 1:32 though. I'm not sure what series or generation the little mog is, so I don't know if it's on the same chassis as your toyota.

Apparently my idea is possible, as this guy seems to have done it. Unfortunately, I do not speak German so I can't ask him anything.

That's really too bad that it's not micro trekker sized... I've been looking to make a little baby unimog to go along with my CC-01 unimog...
the best thing I can find so far is a paper model.

That MIGHT be something like a Kyosho mini-Z overland chassis under there...

This guy found a 1:24th scale Unimog for his MCRC. The Trekker would work just as well.

This guy did it with a 1/35th scale kit.

...and it steers too as the original tamiya doesn't

here's a photo of the 1/36 highroller and my unpainted Tamiya 1/32 Land Cruiser body

wheelbase wise its a fit but i'm sure width is a bit wide most of these rc bodies exaggerate the width too much so it won't flip on turns and they also make the tires oversized nothing is done to scale. but thats where the modding part goes.

Losi micro highroller image grabbed from net shows length instead of wheelbase but you get the idea..its the same....according to LOSI website its 3.25 in.

Losi: 1/36 Micro HIGHroller RTR: Losi (LOSB0237)

I have informally wrote[commented] to LOSI/horizonhobby blogs to make more Scale Chassis products especially axles in 36th and even 16th scale like their 18th scale crawler but well see if they respond as the main rc market caters to racers hence the popularity of the sct and buggies more than the scaler crowd

I went to a really big hobby store yesterday and they didn't have ANY unimog related things in stock. I was able to order the 1:32 scale one from them for 11 dollars and it should arrive sometime next week. I'm thinking I should set it aside for a while though, and build something easier (10th or 24th scale) first, since this would be my first scratch build and I feel like I should have some more experience before I attempt something that tiny.

i might just get one of those unimogs from my local hobby shop as i'm in the process of getting a used high roller chassis.. not much work involve a matter of dropping the body to the chassis...and maybe covering up the chrome rims to make it look proper to the Mog.
i'll let you know

I just found an awesome 1:32 build using a new crawler: nanoqlo. It seems like junk to me, with an IR controller and cheapo parts, but this guy made it work, and it looks incredible!

I have 1/32 scale bodies on both my Sumo's, one has a Snap-tite USA-1 body on it, the other is Juggernaut Jr., both have bumpers removed, USA-1 body has the bed shortened 1/2" so the overall lengths match... Also I have Miclaws on both, so they look monster truck like...

What electronics should I put in it? Micro T stuff? Looking for the cheapest I can find that will fit in that body. I would like 2.4GHz if possible since I already have two 2.4 radios. (sumo crawler and micro sct)

Cool! Thanks guys! I hate to leave you all hanging like this, but 4 weeks of waiting and an hour on the phone with the store, and still no Unimog
My project is kind of on hold until I get the darn thing, so that I can take measurements and make sure stuff will fit before I buy/build it.
