Nice rig, nice video, and I love how it's a compilation of your rig in one video! What's the chassis made from? .020" Styrene? How'd you form the rib before gluing and clamping, small sheet metal brake?

I like it a lot. I contemplated building a stick chassis, but never thought of using styrene. You built one of these with a Trekker or Micro Crawler drive train setup?

I could never find a way to keep the trans low enough to keep the COG low. If you run a stick across from the front to rear axle, the trans ends up like 2" up in the air. I really need to give this some more thought and try it!

Love it !

Is that just the stock MOA drivetrain from a QLO??? Or did you modify anything?

Thanks danally it was fun untill the rear gears blew up! Yes it's miniqlo MOA V2 I did modify the gear (upgraded to alum gear) but with super tires it didn't have a chance....

So, is there a set of axles that CAN take the abuse? A micro MOA has been a fascination of mine for a while, but the parts aren't out there from what I can see.

Here's the other stick chassis build I found. Not sure if it's the one you were thinking of or not though?

Yep redranger that's the thread I was thinking of... The sumo and losi axles could take the beating if you could make it work. If your a pimp you could try something like what's in this thread

To tell ya the truth, that was the purpose of my post about gear boxes and the DANALLY Predator motors. The gearboxes use 3mm output shafts, the worm is a 3mm shaft through the bearing, the back of the housings are flat and true enough for a plate to hold the gearbox. Build the plate to tie into the back of the servo mounting posts on the back of the housing, counter sink screw holes through it to go into the gearbox, knock the length of both shafts down and machine a flat around 3mm long on the end of each. Then the gearbox shaft flat would kind of overlap (both being halfrounds) the worm shaft in the pinion bearing. The shafts overlapping in the center of the worm shaft bearing would prevent either shaft from pulling away from the other or walking around. You'd have to be damn precise on making sure both shafts were exactly half round or the motor would want to wobble around. Being bolted onto the plate you created, it would end up eating a bearing or something...

From what I calculated, you would need a gearbox with around a 15:1 ratio to work out and replace the 2.5:1 of the trans and the 5.9:1 of my 59/10 setup with a 90T Predator. The nice thing is, a little error in gearing selection can be made for on a MOA rig by switching around your wiring if running a single ESC. Read about how wiring a single ESC to dual motors effects how the motor actually runs. You can very easily make two 90Ts feel like a single 180T or double 45Ts by swapping from parallel to series wiring on the motor (or something like that, I'll attempt to find the write-up).

The attraction I had with the smaller cans and gearboxes is that they would still clear the servo sitting down on the axle like stock. The Losi axle with the 130 on it (Madjones) would have to have the servo raised up. BTW, you think that tall geared setup would still crawl? I guess you could wire them in parallel to make it fell like a single motor with twice the windings...

EDIT: I should have said earlier that this is PART OF the reason I posted earlier. I still need to find a tiny tiny gearbox for a motorized toy project. I believe DANALLY is hooking it up with a few of the little Sanyo motor/gearbox setups for testing though.
