Default MOA-Sumo-

Had this planned out & most of the parts for a few months now..After madjones thread got bumped it got me motivated to get to work on my own moa..I started on it two days ago & thought I would share the progress.

Parts:
2x 29:1 gr units
sumo axles & shocks
2x 20a xys esc's no brake versions
2x 50t pn racong 130 cans (in the mail)
4x mini 8 front wheels & tires (in the mail)
6ch 2.4 hk stick radio for 4ws + F&R dig
Qlo shafty tvp chassis for now

So first I had to dremel another flat spot on the GR units shafts & turn them down a bit to fit the sumo pinion...Drilled out the back half of the axle case to house the bushing on the end of the GR units.

The stock GR unit cans are long the 50t's are about 3/4 the length of these

Got it all mounted up just need to finish the skid & wait for the 50t's to show up then I will get some vid

Well I was thinking about torque twist but I guess on Moa it might not matter.

You build some sweet rigs, but pick the ugliest rims to use! D:

and is there a particular reason for the pin tires?

Thanks man, those ugly 1.9 rims come with those pin tires & they are for mock up only...The pins, for 2 reasons they make miclaws look tiny & they flatout hook up on the rocks

Here is the pin next to a miclaw:

& the pin next to a regular 1.9 far to big for a micro & that pin is the only size that works for a superclass micro imo..

Here are the rims it will be sitting on once my pin tires come in cause the touring car rubba don't work to good on the rocks

& one last pic next to the super shafty losi with ugly wheels

So, where can I find a gearbox that'll fit the stock Losi motors? I dig the super look, but I was thinking more along the lines of a micro 2.2 Bully. I think the worms would be slick on a smaller rig.

@ redranger: You can use a sumo gearhead with the losi motor, just need to drill 2 new holes in the losi can

Well no real update yet Mike, getting the front yard ready for a retaining wall...Rented a mini skid steer today & have it till mon, let the fun begin!

I did get the 50t pn's & pins mounted on homemade wideners..I need to figure out whats up with my HK 6ch remote but she is ready to roll once I get that sorted out.

Next to a trekker for size diff.

It's been like 3 weeks now buddy, any progress? Where are the videos? I finally just picked up a Sumo and am debating going this route with it or building my dream scaler. Honestly I've always been more into the comp rigs and had planned on building a MOA Losi anyway, this would be even simpler and could lay down much more power. I'm thinking the scaler is gonna have to wait. Feel like sharing a link to these particular gear heads? I've been all over the Pololu site, only to be confused by the layout of the site and the multiple sizes of gearboxes. Currently I'm waiting on a micro gearbox to show up in the mail. If I can't manage to get it mounted up on a Losi axle I may go this route. After thinking, I'm not sure the Losi worm would like BIGGER tires anyway...

Well the 6ch hk remote blows
So I hacked a sumo remote to run the digs...Its ok but reverse is some what lacking power...So untill I get a better TX this will have to do..I ordered up some neo mags for the 50t as they started getting a little warm...I also had to ditch the 4ws for now, but once I get a better TX I will go back to 4ws...

Short test vid & my first sumo axle snap ....Its funny cause the other rigs with more power & widened axles haven't broke yet...

I HAVE TO SAY IT AGAIN...YOU HAVE TOO MUCH TIME ON YOUR HANDS!!!

Amazing rig. Truly awesome.
Very interesting use of the Redcat radio gear
Every time I hear a "beep beep" in a video I chuckle. I hate that sound...any idea how to loose it???

Thanks Mike & Dan!

I don't know how to get rid of that damn beep..I didn't see no speaker in it when I cracked it open but it might have one I didn't look that hard for it....Might put all my free time in tonight to have another look around for it, once the kids go to bed

Edit: found the speaker

Its on the same board as the screen...
