Ok, no video (sorry) but I can tell you it's like all brushless systems up and down hill. The hold/drag brake is more effective on this system than the 1/10, but that actually makes it harder to descend. The roll is slower and controllable than a 1/10 scale rig, most likely because of the weight ... BUt, if you get going and snap to neutral, over she goes. So, it will take some practice.

But, other than that, I'm stoked with the system! I might try tighter gear mesh and lightening up on the drag brake to see how that feels. More testing soon!
For the record, I only like Yani with Quiet Riot playing over him.

How much weight is in your rear wheels? I found that loading them up a little reduces that downhill ass over head catapult effect.

Thank you for the review.

DpD: Right now, it's got a 1250 lipo on the front upper y-link, and the rims are original Mayhems, without any extra weight in them ... I'll be moutning up the new Mayhems, so I can add more weight to the front, which will help the weight bias. Right now I think it's too neutral (which would mean it's heavy in the rear).

It's been a while, thought I'd shoot this thread back up with some feedback on the Mongoose ....

Believe it or not, I have not driven the truck much in all this time! (Work and family) But, I'll say this, it's an awesome little motor package! Plenty of grunt and plenty of wheelspeed. It's the best of both worlds.

It does take some getting used to on climbing or descending. The drag/hold brake is very effective, but only to a point. As soon as you give it some throttle, it will release. So, I end up descending with quick, gentle blips of the throttle.

I put on Flat Irons, and extra weight in the Mayhem rims, and the Mongoose powers them around with ease.

It's a pretty strong motor combo. Snapped a CVD & driveshaft.

So was it worth it? Its almost the same price as an FXR and a TMM motor. So does it crawl solwer and have more top speed as the old set up? How about run times? Since the prices is slow close and hardly any maintance I would totaly do it.
