How hard is it to modify the caps? Also do you know of any shocks that will work without modding anything

Re: Papabash's BWD 'Low-Pro' Wedge Build

It's really easy, check out page 2 of this thread, I walk you through it there.
I guess the Mini Late Models could be used without modification if they aren't outboarded, but I always outboard my MRC shocks, and the stock MLM mounts will bind pretty badly when outboarded.

I guess the Mini Late Models could be used without modification, but I wanted to have more "play" in the mount for when the shock mounts flex during articulation.

Ok thanks if I get one of these I will do that mod :)

Thanks, I'm glad you're enjoying the build. Austin and I like to razz each other on and off the course - he's a great kid (can't say much for his dad, though). :lmao:

Actually they are just some I whipped up real fast to get ready for it's first comp, nothing special. Just get some thin clear plastic to make a template and then trace it out on some Lexan and you'll be good to go; it's super easy. I don't know of any vendors making panels for the Low-Pro.

Any chance you can measure your shocks for me? I need the extended length and collapsed length.

I'm building a low pro right now and have the losi threaded shocks for the mrc so instead of buying another set of shocks I'm just going to cut these ones up.

No problem, collapsed they are 43mm, extended they are 56mm. With the Mini Late Model shocks I used a 5/16" (if memory serves correctly) piece of fuel line inside to limit them a bit. Good luck on the build, you're gonna love it when it's finished!

Perfect, thanks"thumbsup"

So you ended up going with fuel line instead of the pen springs that were pictured earlier in the thread?

Re: Papabash's BWD 'Low-Pro' Wedge Build

This thing would already be done, but I bought a wraith and have been messing around with it too much. I broke it though, so now I'm going to jump back on this while I'm waiting for parts.

Nope, I did use the pen springs on this one, my bad. I have so many comp rigs they all kinda blend together in my head sometimes! Sorry.

I know Don is always very busy, but do you know if he still makes the motor plate for the mrc, I want one and he has not replied if it is going to be available.
Also can you post a pic of how or at least where you mounted the esc and receiver. Space is limited. Thanks again.

I don't know about the motor plate, but I would be surprised for him to stop making them. I know I have sent him a couple of emails lately without reply. It's my understanding that he is not only very busy, but having health problems with his back and some family health issues as well. I'm sure he'll be back around and answering posts/emails when he can.
I'll get some pics of where I mounted stuff later when I can.

Re: Papabash's BWD 'Low-Pro' Wedge Build

Here you go: It was actually a good time to ask for a picture of this as I have it torn down to do some work on it. What I did was tape my ESC (Micro Sidewinder) to the bottom of my receiver (Spektrum SR3100) and then mounted them as a unit to the rear electronics tray that came with the chassis. I was a bit worried that mounting the 2 items together would cause glitching, but so far it has worked flawlessly.

I'm working on getting the motor plates and skids for the Wedge/Low Pro chassis kits back on the shelf ASAP. "thumbsup"
