| Tire and shock questions
Hey guys, I just spend a week in joshua tree with my mini crawler and had a blast. I had some issues with traction using the stock tires, and broke the top off a shock. It would still work, but would pop off all the time. This place is pretty much all I crawl. Just big rocks everywhere. The stock tires spin way to easy in my opinion. The hallow lugs seem to bend instead of pull. I never crawl in mud, so I was thinking something with a much larger contact patch would work much better. The stock tires are more like super swampers, and i'm thinking more like ATs. Something that will flex like a real tire at 7psi would be great! It seems to hop more than it should because the weak treads are bending and then catching. My only mod is the removal of the servo saver because I lost the piece. I cut the screw down and it works better now! I don't want to spend a ton on this, but anything is cheap compared to the $10K+ that it costs to put real coil over shocks on my jeep. I've seen good things about the Rover tires when doing searches, but they look similar to the stock tires. I was thinking something with a tread block like these, and with soft sidewalls would be ideal. For the shock replacement, is it worth upgrading, or just buy a new shock body? Here is a video of the kind of stuff that I do for reference. Losi Mini Crawler on big boulders in Joshua Tree - YouTube |

Apples to oranges my friend.. Get the rovers and be Amazed! I couldn't see a video, so if your shocks aren't aluminum pro shocks, buy some of them.. |

They're the stock shocks. And I second getting the aluminum pro versions, way better. And also the HB rovers or proline chisels. They're both pretty good.
