I saw the same body at walmart and thought I wonder if that'll fit? Now that I know I picked it up but I do have a question. How did you lengthen your driveshafts for the lengthened wheelbase?

Thanks guys! I love it! I got a LiPo for it a while back and been driving a little but not hard (don't want to scratch it up, haha). It's got some tasteful trail damage on it tho!

Nerwal- Yes i will elaborate a little more with pictures cause it's hard to explain how i bent the copper tube. I'll post pictures soon!

Elvis- I did what most people do is cut the female part of the driveshaft and extend it with a bic pen body, works great.

Nice! Oh what did you use for links? I thought finding some at the lhs would be easy but they had nothing that small. Right now I have cut and extended my factory links but it looks crappy and I think it's weak.

Monsterman- I found it at Target for 10 bucks.

Elvis- I used threaded rod and mini t rod ends. It's not a clean look cause you can obviously see the threads but it looks fine. I can't remember the size of the rod tho.

Nice! I'm a huge fan of the FJ. I was thinking about posting a link to this over on the Fj forum to see what they think of it.

Big Mike- Yep, all you have to do is make the model in a 3d program, i used Solidworks. The printer lays .01in strips of ABS plastic. Some parts can obviously be delicate by the way their designed but the solid parts are made with ribs of support material inside so they're pretty strong. And sorry i can't produce any to sell to you cause apperently my school won't allow that, i already asked! haha
any idea how much they(3d printers) cost because scale rc vehicles is the future!
for real i can have pretty much my dream vehicle for way less $$$, plus i can drive it how i want and not worry about bein stuck in the middle of nowhere.

I have been a car guy before i could walk lol and i think once people catch on to the idea of scale rc cars, trucks, boats i mean the possibilities are endless. I just bought my first scaler three days ago and am hooked

sorry for the long reply but a big plus is also that they're green.

In conclusion, their is alot of money to be made in scale parts/accesories and with the parts you've made for your fj " I feel you hit the nail on the head" just sayin

Very nice work!! I started my own fj micro build a few weeks ago...hadn't seen this one yet. I' e got similar ideas but will be hand making most of the scale accessories from styrene...including a chassis.

I'm really glad I found this build...give me an idea of what mine will look like when its finished!

Did you have to add stiffer springs? and if so where did you get them?

Yeah i picked up some stiffer springs but they were just some springs from the hardware store, they fit perfectly and they're perfect for the weight of the body and all the accessories.

Okay so finally here it is. I cut little holes in the body so it kinda snaps on over the fuel tubing. It holds it pretty well.

Man Those are sweet bumpers and roof rack. Do you still have the dxf files? I may have access to a 3d printer and I have the same body for my micro so it'd be awesome if I could print some =)
