Default 1980 Ford Bronco Rock Crawler

Here is a build I'm currently working on. It's a 1980 Ford Bronco, 1/24th scale, Trekker based. I modified the axles by removing the servo trays. On the rear I made lockouts. For the front I adapted the steering linkage to work longitudinally. I made a custom chassis with a rear mounted steering servo. There is a simple pushrod to connect the two. There is zero bumpsteer. Works great. I also made the usual losi axle mods for better clearance. I made custom low profile brackets for the links and shocks to attach, since I removed the factory upper link and shock mounts.

The trans got a 56t spur and a 9t brass pinion and a Danally DDT 90t motor. Love that combination.

I cut away at the interior tub and body to get the body low. I have the driver and motor ready to go. The motor is a 351 Windsor. I cut out the doors, and that briefly covers up to now.

Thanks Jcplante!

Basicbilly, The tires are Rok Lox $7 a pair from RC4WD. The rims I made using my 3d printer, but I sold it last year. I still have some left though, so send me an E-MAIL if you are interested in a set.

I got the inner tub cut away, and most of the filler pieces installed. I sanded off the bronco emblems and side turn signals on the front quarter panels (rocks knocked them off). I cut away even more on the front wheel wells. Looking forward to making the roll cage.

You sold your 3d printer?! Im guessing that means you are not selling the micro wraith style chassis anymore?

No, it doesn't mean I quit selling the chassis. It means I'm using a service to make my parts. Click on the links in my sig for my website, shapeways site, etc.

I did a little sanding and added some putty, cut away a little more from the front of the doorways. Next I hide (cover) the cut outs for the transmission and motor to fit properly.

I got a good start on patching the holes in the floor. I also removed the lower plastic trim pieces, cause you know, the rocks broke them. Just like the Bronco logo all that's left are the holes in the body.

A little update, Driver dude is glued in. Steering wheel is made from scratch. Painted a lot on the driver dude. Shifters are installed. I may tape it all up and do the exterior, or install the roll cage first.

Hi Jim

....amazing work!

did your chassis fit in to other mini crawler also or just Losi? because I have seen it's very difficult found one 1/24 Losi crawler for sell.
