Default Indy specter 1/20

I recently picked up one of Jims 1/20 specter chassis. I have been waiting for a 1/20 fungi chassis for sometime now. He nailed it, the perfect scale for crawler axles. I wanted to try a different route with some independent losi micro rally axles. Haven't had much time to work on it. A few hours today & its standing on its own. Plans are still unknown, but bet ur arse it will be fast!

I see you're mocked up using the Rally wheels. I've considered doing something like this off and on for a couple of years now. Those half moon hubs won't take much abuse before they round out.

The LMC/Treker axle stubs would allow for a pin/hex and open up wheel/tire options. But those axles are slightly bigger around than the Rally axles. I looked briefly for a compatible set of bearings but didn't find any. Not saying they aren't out there, so it could be worth a google. My next step was to try to order some of the Chinese knock off LMC axle stubs and hope they'd have a smaller, compatible OD shaft for the Rally's bearings. Come to think of it, I may try getting one of those Rocksta 1/24 MOA crawler kits from HobbyKing to have a look see.

I'll be keeping tabs on your progress. I wanna see how you power the diffs because they use the same half moon. I was thinking of cutting the center shaft to fit and a U joint type coupling at the tranny.

I threw one of Jim's 1/24 Specter chassis' on an ECX Ruckus just for shits and giggles. It was fun until my 6 year old got a hold of it and fried the esc and motor! Now the parts are off to new projects. I really love where you're going with this one. Definitely takes it to the next level! I'll be following this one for sure!

Yeah wasn't planning on a Indy rig but shape ways had other ideas. The front of the chassis was all warped & twisted. Threw some heat at it & almost got it back into shape. I hope to be in the air soon bro!

The rally wheels will hold up fine I have the same setup on my 2 ifs builds from 2011 & 2013 no fails yet.
They have been beat on good with some big power!

Sounds like it was fun have any pics bro? Damn kids always tear my stuff up I feel your pain

Well after a few days of planning my servo placement I think I got it figured out. finding a servo mounting location was key. I left the some length on the rally shaft up front & sleeved a section the servo will mount to. The rear shaft has a smaller diameter than the front so it was sleeved & pinned with some 1/8 brass tube. So now it's shafted & should have steering once the epoxy cures on the modded horn
