Default FREE DEADBOLT SCX10..... Maybe

Any interest in a chance to win a RTR SCX10 Deadbolt?

This can maybe go one of two ways but we (MNRCRC) would like to know if this is possible.

I can get a rig for $289 and if it was given away at the end of the year it would use up all of the prize and trophy money.

I was thinking of using it as a rental to generate more income but Pimp mentioned using it as a 'spec' class.

Anyone interested throws in $5, and they run that truck through a course. Everyone that runs it gets one ticket and best score gets two tickets. Most tickets at the end of the year wins the truck.

Thoughts?

This truck will remain 100% box stock and we have enough parts in all of our tool boxes to keep it running for the next guy.

Very interesting idea. maybe this might spur a whole new spec class! The only problem I see is who gets the rig because who ever has it can drive it when ever they would like to get use to it and then would have a slight advantage.

I don't see the numbers working out. Let's say we get 10 guys to run it for the rest of the season. That's $50 a comp, 4 comps left. And that's if it's out by the next comp.

Then their is the time it would take to run it, at least another hour if we run 1 course, double that if we run 2.

The concept is great, and we have done it in the past with a Losi mrc that Jerry's RC donated. But the truck was donated to the club, and it was given away that day.

Truck would stay with Pimp.

And I get what you're saying Mike. Do you have any suggestions as to how we could pull something like this off?

Ultimately I'm trying to give this away to a new guy in hopes that they will come back with family and friends. Can't think of a better way to promote the hobby and gain new interest.

First off, kudos to Chad for the offer of using his discount and the idea of a creative give-away.

Like Mike said, we did something similar with a Mini Pro, and it was a great success. The big difference here is the cost. My thought was to run this as much as possible to help with cost. We don't have enough funds to buy this rig outright. So we would absolutely need to generate more funds to pull this off.

We have 6 comps and 4 GTG's before the Finals, so we could do 10 chances if we run it at comps and GTG's. At $5 a person per event, we would need 6 people at each event to participate in order to cover the full cost of the rig. If we're close, the club could toss in a few bucks to cover the difference, but that of course would cut into our money for plaques and other give away prizes. Bottom line, we would need to know that we have enough interest before we can make it happen.

*I also want to suggest that instead of 'the most tickets wins', all tickets would go into a raffle. So, each person that participates gets a ticket for each event that they run it. Whoever has the best score at each event gets the two tickets (doubling your chance to win). Then, we raffle it at the finals. That way, it's not necessarily the best driver who wins it. Every participant gets a chance to win it.

Raffle sounds great. I didn't think of that.

We need interest hard and fast if possible. It would be great to get this on fliers.

I don't see my self dropping $40-50 on raffle tickets, maybe $10-15. Not sure where everyone else would be.

I really like the idea but after some thought... I'm kinda with Mike on this. 40 bucks is more than I like to spend on a raffle(especially if the idea would be to raffle it to a new guy). I'd rather spend that on other things. (RC parts, gun parts, and ammo)

I know it wouldn't support Chads hobby shop. But we could order it from tower for $270. ($30 off $300).

I'm down with the idea. I may not partake at every event but I'm sure the competitive bug would get the better of me.

I like the idea, and I would probably run it at every event I could get to...but that's the kicker, new job, new company, so I may not be able to make all of them despite my best efforts.
