You need an extra pinion gear and axle housing, plus a complete straight axle for the rear. You sand down the small grove on the two middle axle halves, and put them together! You then must flip the rear axle upside down. Really easy, took me 15min tops.

The hardest parts of the build were the frame, and the box, lots of sanding and cleaning and redoing. . .

I ordered some parts to address the power and steering issues. Also ordered some stiffer front springs. Right now the preload is screwed all the way down and it still sags.

This thing weighs 20lbs, and with a 55T on a 1300 mah pack, I only got about 20min of run time.

So I ordered a larger lipo, 3600mah 3s 25c, and a flippin huge outrunner 1,100KV. Its just as big as a regular 540. I was really impressed by the smaller outrunner I was running, but I don't think it will handle the truck without overheating. I found that Rc4wd has 48pitch 5mm shaft pinions, so I ordered one up.

That really gives you alot of options for a Outrunner, seeing as how most of them have large shafts. My original one pictured uses a 3.17mm shaft, so all the regular pinions just slip on!

I drove this thing around the yard for a awhile yesterday, and it was a blast. The approch angle could be better, but once its moving up an incline, its hard to stop. My dog is scared of this thing, its almost as big as he is. Usually he chases my R/C's.

I got a job last week, so maybe I'll get those pluggers after all. . .

Update:

The truck has been running, but has undergone a few changes, and more are planned.

I ran the truck at a local spot in the foothills here. Ran great untill the center gear in the tranny gave out, mostly due to my brother not installing the center shaft when he built it.

Now, I have a better solution to the problem than just fixing the old transmission, how about a new one!?

Thats a summit two speed in there, and I doubt I will break it! I am still waiting on my new(used) DX3.0 transmitter, and I also need to make a shifting servo mount as well. Shouldn't be tough.

1st gear:

2nd gear:

I noticed it was getting pretty warm in there with all that equipment. So I installed some small 40mm fans.

Vents on top:

Just look at the size of the motor! Beef cake! In first gear it doesn't cog at all!

Enjoy!

I edited the size of the photos in photobucket, they will update soon!

I used the same basic suspension when I built my 6x6 over the winter. I found that using the softest upper and lower springs on the rear axles allowed for much more free flowing suspension articulation. I like your rig, it turned out good!

Thanks for the comments guys! Work is brutal right now so it was refreshing to see some people taking interest in this.

The hobby king radio is great. Nothing special, but it works flawlessly, and I have had it for a few months now. I added my own end point adjustments to spice it up.

I have mounted up a shifting servo, and got my dx3.0. I love the high and low gear setup. I broke a t-maxx drive shaft yesterday in first gear when I was in a bind. Should be more careful with so much torque.

I have firm springs up front on my scx10 shocks, ordered up some super firms. This is the second adjustment on the stiffness.

When driving this thing around in some lose sand/dirt, it looked spot on with the way it handled. Just like the dakar trucks. When I get it fixed back up I will get some HD video.

I do plan on repainting it, I also bought some micro-mark decal paper. Now I can print out my Euro plate and logos to just the right scale.

Thanks for the interest!

Update:

Ok, paint job is done. I will put a few more decals on when I get the time. Using GIMP to edit and resize images and Micro mark decal paper. Its time consuming and difficult to get everything just right. On the bright side I can make any decal I will ever need.

I also ordered some stock bruder mirrors to replace the broken ones that came with the body.

The brushless outrunner is out, and a 35t is in. I like it!

I mounted the steering servo back on the axle, so I have the full vertical motion of the suspension without bump steer.

Its a blast to drive! Motor is cool so I can gear up a bit .

Wow she really handles well. I thought at that speed it would end up on its side. No way she drifts in the gravel. how much fun.
