I'm not going to bore you with all the inbetween changes etc. I cut and paste the most important from the other forum. The basic story is, started out it was going to be a Pinzgauer 712K, Then a Unimog, now, a Custom Pajero wrecker/recovery truck. Pics so far... First coat of primer... Ok, so Olive Drab is the color... And when it was all dry, I assembled it again... That's the chassis so far... |

| Well, all I have so far is that what you see. The concept is in my head, but basically the worm drive will move a pivot up and down, in order to raise and lower the boom arm. The boom rope will be driven by a winch. Hope this helps.

Wouldn't it look more scale if the boom arm were mounted above the motor and the pivot arm rode on the worm drive?

I love the everything paint. I watched a rebuil on a willys, and that's exactley what they do. They had to scrape paint from bolts, seams, gaskets. Your paint Job is 100% accurate to a 1940's military spec paint Job. It looks great, makes me want to military paint things.

the benefit of doing the boom arm they way he drew it up is it will allow it to extend further out. if you move the support arms on the worm drive it will raise and lower but no extension. either way nice idea. i may steal it for adding a hoist setup to my 6x6! |

how is this rig coming along? I'm digging the worm drive and boom, when I looked at your rough sketch I came up with on concern. Is the worm rod that the boom travels along going to be able to resist flex when it is loaded? Either way if it does flex it's not like it will flex too far I suppose and the nut is captured so it may not be an issue, but I was thinking it may affect the smoothness of operation. |
