Default Tatra 8X8 Build!

Well its about time I started on my second build. First build was of a 6x6 that I learned ALOT about. It has recently found a new home and I decided to build a 8x8 with all of the goodies that I wish I would have put into my 6x6. Here is a pic of my first build.

What am looking at building is a Tatra 8x8 replica. Here is the list of parts that will be used.

1) Axial scx10 axles
2) GH Jig Saw 1.9 wheels
3) RC4WD Mud Slingers
4) Summit 2 speed transmission
5) RC4WD Transfer case
6) Hitec 5645 Steering Servos
7) Hitec Micro Servo Metal Geared shifting servo.
Customer styrene body and Box.
9) Integy Leaf Springs modified to fit axles.
10)C channel Chassis.
11) Shocks ?????? (any suggestions)
12) Delrin Chassis Spacers
13) Electronics (Brushed or brushless unknown right now)

Nice build and a good start. I've been thinking about an 8x8. Looking forward to what you do for the body. That is the one area I struggle with the most.

Ok Boys and girls here is my update

Installed all 8 Tamiya Highlift 90MM shocks
Made 8 Shock mounts out of L bracket aluminum
and installed all drive shafts.

I am still undecided on what to do with the center of the truck. I am just worried the center drive shafts might break since there is no skid plate. I used Axial Ridgecrest axles coming up of the transfer case to prevent binding on the increased angle going to axles. It actually looks much taller in the pics then it really is.

That looks cool, but that is a crazy angle on those center shafts.

I agree that the driveshafts look steep, you might want to drop your transfer case down.

Started work on the body. First time using styrene and have to say its not to bad. I still have some work on the outside to do, but its coming along. I painted the interior with the color choice I am going with. I deff want the truck to stand out.

Finished body. First experience using styrene and have to say it wasn't to bad. I also painted the chassis and am still in the progress of finishing the box. I decided not to put and glass in the cab in case I do get water inside the cab and in case I need to work inside of the cab.

No interior planned. I wanted to keep it simple. This truck will be used and abused so no need for a interior

Update!
Added decals. I still need to find some clear adhesive to cover over the decals and paint so I don't damage it. I also mounted two tires on the back of this beast. I also mounted a tire on the back of the cab with a chain.

Should I build a tire rack on the top of this beast or should I leave it the way it is? ALL COMMENTS WELCOME!

I installed some Car plastic body protectant. I bought it off ebay for $10.00. I want to protect the body and stickers from water and brush damage when on the trail. Great investment especially on the body and box. To much time into the body to have it get all damaged up.
