So I haven't been spending much time on this lately, but have been working on it, seeing Robotboy's sweet build start makes me wanna work on it again. I did get to test it for a lil while when I went up to Rock City on Mt Diablo with some friends couple weeks ago but didn't take any pics or video as it had no body and I was babying it around as I had some issues with diff gear mesh and some skipping gears, so canceled test run. New updates: I didn't like front+rear steer only, so I did 6 wheel steering now and also picked up a basic MAN cab in trade from a member here that I've now mostly mounted already and working on LED lights and installing a ESS Dual for sound, also picked up a new radio, DX5 Pro so I can use more channels than my Futaba 4PLS had for the ESS Dual horn lol. Can't think of what else I've changed since my last post but I'll put up some pics soon once body is fully mounted. CHEERS!!!! |

So much wiring and other work to get body all mounted but its alive! FINALLY!!! https://i.imgur.com/vZRl4ao.jpg https://i.imgur.com/WQNiE4i.jpg https://i.imgur.com/r9FWYON.jpg https://i.imgur.com/DdVlzan.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/ztRedsS.jpeg More pics and some youtube videos to come of it actually running. (Not sure why Imgur hates me and thumbnails, the site for them never loads for me anymore, so all you get it links for now) Last edited by savageasflux; 05-03-2021 at 12:59 AM. |

Since I got her finished up, I was able to get up to Rock City over the weekend on Mt Diablo and test it out pretty extensively. Should of taken more pics but was having too much fun. Worked really well compared to my other 6x6. The 6WS is amazing, can turn around anywhere, even on top of the craziest rocks up 40+ ft in the air on the "Hwy 1" climb I think it's called. Also drove it most the way up Sentinel Rock, you can see in the pics with the wires in them, only had to assist it a few times on the way up. Needs some diff tuning, had more play at the end of the day than at start, and one rear upper link kept coming apart so I just need to make a longer rod. Also speed is a little too fast for me with the Slate 2850kv motor, id like it a little slower so that may change eventually. All the electronics are working great, no power issues with the BEC Pro, plenty of amps for all the servos moving 6 wheels like crazy. Also had wired up lots of front lights with the roof light bar, drilled a few headlights and even mounted some LED strips for under body lights in wheel well and under grill, all running off the 3s. Didnt get much lights on bed yet other than the tail lights, but those are built in to the bed and run off the BEC Pro power at 7.4v. Check the lights out below, night pics were just on my backyard track. Performance vids coming soon. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk Last edited by savageasflux; 05-03-2021 at 11:24 PM. |

Thats sick. With the the 6WS how much control do you have? Can you counter steer and crab walk and all that?

Thanks for all the kind comments. I have it setup so that it works independent of normal steering. Controlled by 3rd channel via a thumb switch on a DX5 Pro. So it can crab walk, swing back end out and all that fun stuff, and thus turn around on a dime. It does some insane donuts too. But I'm still learning it, eventually I feel it will be a fluid motion once my brain gets the hang of it.

Heres the first running video of it, just the full run up the Hwy 1 climb in Rock city. Watch it turn around at the top and come back down. Sorry for bad angles at times, was driving, filming and trying not to have either of us fall off at the same time, as at this point I was driving by myself <--- ( I never saw this badger before lol, I like him ) |

Finally upgraded my video program and just now figured out Davinci Resolve to be good enough to be happy with the results instead of frustrated learning a more professional program, but anyways heres some other video from the fun at Rock City on Mt Diablo. Having so much fun with thing thing, it makes crazy lines, need to do some shock tuning but its so much fun to drive and the 6-wheel steering is insane what it adds and it sure draws a lot of attention crab walking around hahahaha Only thing i need to do is change up the cabin mounts as im just using some old magnets I had around from hard drives servo taped on, need to do a more permanent so the "head doesnt fall off" anymore. Hope you enjoy. |

Purely amazing man!!! I am planning a similar build with AR60 axles and will likely "borrow" some of your project's lessons learned... Hopefully you don't mind. Keep up the great work man! |

Any questions I can help ya with let me know. I have changed a few things with the truck that's not detailed here, but only like motor and a servo, and a couple rear links, nothing too major. I'll have to put up some new pics at some point. | |

Took her up Mt Diablo awhile back and crawled around all day with a hand full of my trucks, even walked the G-6x6 up to Devils Pulpit at sunset, with the lights on. Need to finish up the underbody lights on the bed someday...... Here's a couple goodie pics near the top. |
