So, ClarkRes is pretty awesome for hiking. Lot of opportunity for scalers out in the woods. Not so sure about crawling. People with bad knees will not have an easy time in this place. Trail-head facilities are exceptional. I hoofed the cliff-side trail up to the powerlines tonight. There are some interesting spots on the trail that a 2.2 or 1.9 comp rig would enjoy, but the spots are brief are slightly far between. Contiguous runs are hard to find. There are several massive limestone faces, but they are long flat runs consisting of simple crevice traversals. Very spectacular to look at, but not crawl. Scalers may fare better, short-course trucks would love it. Off trail, rock becomes moss-covered very quickly. Considering the entire place exists as a plantlife preserve... we probably don't want to be shredding that. Down in the north end mouth of the basin, the ground is largely forest-compost over limestone scrabble, which sometimes is on the surface. The footpaths are good, largely dirt. The basin walls are a loose scrabble of rock and compost with very little vegetation. I ran out of sun and was not able to check the south or east sides. |

Hey SBB, I'm thinking my friend and I will be there by 10 am. If that's not too early. There is a pull off right on the road so it will be hard to miss anyone. There is also a pavillion about 100 yards from there at the trail head. The rocks start right away. Theres stuff for scalers and more extreme crawlers. I haven't heard anything from anyone else but if you come mabe more will too. Oxbow county park is 4 miles south of Thruway exit 34, just take a left at the light and stay on that road for 4 miles. It is on the right side and there are signs. There is a frisbe golf course before..thats not it, keep going. If you look at my google map on this thread you will see it. Anyone is welcome to call me on my cell before or day of... Eric (315)617-3598 |

So, dare we try again? Presuming no typhoon, that is... I'm thinking a bit north this time. Heck, if we're daring enough, we can crawl the boat launch and run your r/c boats when done! There's a good amount of stuff for 2.2, 1.9 and micro crawlers, as well as scalers. Maybe summits also, not sure. https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&l...02411&t=h&z=19 I can carpool 1 person if needed. Last edited by sbb; 08-10-2012 at 10:21 PM. |

It's an hour for me as well. Start is flexible - last week we proved that both Terry and Joe can wake up early. Figure out what time you'd need to leave to make those obligations, and back-time based on what you'd like to bring! Or, 10am can work.

Hmm. Looks like Terry's stuck with family biz, and J's bride may have him tied up. Rick, I'm thinking it may be your turn to pick a spot! Prefer to the east for Eric's sake, but it's all good I think!
