I'm new also. I've done alot of research and looking and Axial definitely seems the way to go. I'm going to order a Wraith kit this week.

AG, he'll have plenty to post once he gets his RedCat or Komodo.

Baisley, get the Axial, it's your best bet of you plan to stay in the hobby. I prefer the SCX10 to the Wraith for several reasons but you can't go wrong either way.

Keep in mind, all crawlers need to be upgraded and tweaked to do the stuff you see on here.

Peck, you wanted advice, we gave it... take it or leave it and live with it, it's your choice.

you should get an scx10 because it is super durable. mine has fallen down a flight of stairs with no problems. I would say you should get some aluminum links or a nice body to make it your own. Or you could upgrade to a 3 channel radio with a winch for more scale looks

At this point you're just not listening. These are the kind of threads that get some of us in trouble. The really cheap trucks you keep mentioning are junk. If you don't want to take our advice, don't. But we don't wanna hear you whining when your dog turd of a crawler is broken every 5 mins and you can't get parts.

Do what you want since you apparently know what you're doing and "dicks" are just trying to help you so you don't blow your money and end up buying replacement parts instead of upgrades.

Well then I would not buy one at all it is a waste of money to buy any of the Trucks you have talked about and if you can't get parts for them then you are going to a have even more problems.. I would wait till you were able to buy the right truck and a good truck till then just read and learn what you can...

Then kid, sorry but you shouldn't be looking at any R/C vehicle. The initial purchase is one thing, but parts break, and cost money.

Your E-Revo VXL will break parts pretty regularly seeing as its a MUCH faster vehicle than a crawler.

Take a step back and reevaluate your financial situation.

In your original post you said your looking for a scaler. Most of the rigs you listed there are not scalers but comp rigs. Everyone that has chimed in already is right, the Axial SCX10 is THE standard of the scaler comunity. My club has MANY great custom builders but most seasons are won with SCX-based rigs. If your new to it an Axial rtr will be your cheapest and most enjoyable truck to start with. If you don't love it, you can sell it here fast and get most of your money back. If you do love it there is a HUGE aftermarket and you can build/buy anything you could imagine. The SCX10 is a very fun, affordable, competitive and easy entry into this hobby.

Done.
