Default HELP shopping for my first crawler

leaning towards the rock racer type for more versatility. any thoughts? Suggestions? Opinions for best bang for the buck. All comments will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Or the ridgecrest. Although the ridgecrest is a little more crawler oriented.

For versatility I'd think about having at least a two speed gearbox.
A racer isn't that good on the slow crawling part.

Save yourself some money and frustration and just buy a set of used Axial axles (wraith or scx10) and a tuber chassis that you like.

If you buy a rtr, there's a good chance you'll throw half the truck out within a few months.

EDIT: Here's a good list of quality parts to run a fast Axial rock racer.
SCX10 to FOFF how?
