Default gearing question

I have a twin hammers built from a kit with a hh torquemaster 13t motor controlled by a brxl escand I burnt the motor in a 30 minute run on 3s. I am using the original 78t spur but i went down to a 22t pinion from 28 which was the lowest pinion for that spur in the chart. justin at HH recommends getting the final drive down to 35:1 but being new to changing gears how would I achieve this while being able to keep the speed up as it will spend most of its life in high gear with the occasional crawling. any help is appreciated as I just want to drive this thing. thanks

Try asking John Holmes at Have tech questions? Will answer. for an answer. I'm pretty sure he will recommend a brushless 3500KV or something similar for your use.

Have a look at the Holmes Hobbies YouTube channel and see what John says about brushed versus brushless for bashing vs crawling. No one motor can do everything well, it's all about trade-offs.

you need to get the spur and pinion ratio down towards 5:1 to give that 13t torque master any chance for survival...

Twin Hammers Gear Chart

You can get a 22t pinion for Twin hammers and it will put you at 40/1, slow you down and save motors. Also a higher T (turn) motor like 27t will slow you down as well. But slow it down with gears first in my opinion.

I had the 22 pinion in the rig when the motor went south.

Does the drive train spin freely? That could over heat motors too.

He recommends the crawl master 13t, NOT the torquemaster. That motor will fry at that gearing, as it did. Everyone I see running a twin hammers on here goes brushless though, that’s a heavy fast rig.
