Default Hobbywing WP1080 Calibration issues!!!!

First RC car, I literally know nothing so bear with me 😂😂 but I have an axial scx10ii Cherokee. I am trying to replace the axial esc with the hobbywing, but I cannot get it to calibrate! My controller is the stock ttx300, I have wired the new esc and plugged it into the second slot in my receiver and the steering servo in the first. When I try to calibrate the neutral position on the esc, I press the set button to confirm neutral and it stops blinking and beeping. Then will do nothing until I start the process over. I also have no steering. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Are your servo and esc plugged in 180° off?

Each plug has 3 wires, usually white/red/black (signal/hot/ground) They'll plug into the receiver either way, but will only function one of those ways. Just unplug them, twist them 180° and plug them back in. If the white wire was on the left, try it on the right, or vice-versa.

What??

No, completely opposite. Ch1 is steering, Ch2 is ESC. Always and forever.

Sounds like your plugs are in backwards as TheLetterJ says.

Yeah, I thought the case was marked +/- as well - black wire to the 'minus-side'.

I tried that and still no luck! Any other forums I have read they at least get neutral to set. I cannot even get that far!

Did you reverse the throttle channel on your transmitter? Some HobbyWing and transmitter combinations require you do that before calibration. I do not remember if the 1080 requires it. Should say in the manual.

I changed throttle input from normal to reverse and that didn't work either! The manual doesn't say this is necessary but I tried it anyway!

I know this is going to sound stupid but you're sure that both the radio and onboard batteries are fully charged?

That was my first thought. I've tried both of my lipo 3s batteries and changed the batteries in the controller. All fully charged! I wish I knew more so I could help you guys out in helping me

Looking at the RX, the first slot is the Bind/BATT slot, you should not have anything plugged in here. The second slot is CH1 (steering), the 3rd slot is for the ESC, and the last slot is CH3.

You should have the lighter wires (white) plugged in closest to the body of the RX, and the black wire should be closest to the edge.

Any pics of what you have going on? I just installed one Sunday with the same TX/RX and had no issues what so ever. Just thinking a pic might help someone see something you aren’t.

My throttle and steering are set in the center of the controller, If I'm not mistaken I should have steering without the esc being calibrated, but I have neither..
