TRX-4 Sport Kit VS Capra

Having a hard time making up my mind. Buddies are running TRX-4's (Bronco and Blazer) at our LHS course. Thinking of building a sport kit with a Titan motor with the Hobby Wing 1080 and Traxxas 400oz servo or the Capra. I have yet to crawl with a Capra but love the looks of them. Do they fall into the same class as the Trx-4's? What are your thoughts?

Not the same class.

The Capra is more or less a dedicated rock crawler, whereas the Traxxas Trx4 is more of a scale trail truck.

That said, a well set up trx4 might be able to mostly stay with a Capra on the trail, when pure rocks though the approach angles departure angles and the width of the body will hold the trx4 back.

Thanks for the reply. What do you mean by trail? Leaves, sticks, and dirt or small rocks? I have a revo 2.0 so that will have me covered for speed.

I do a lot of trail running, either by myself, or with others...

A Capra is a fine trail rig as well as the TRX-4. The Capra is more capable and it can get boring on mild terrain. For more challenging terrain I'd take the Capra and for milder terrain I'd choose the TRX-4. That's not to say the TRX-4 isn't very capable for a scaler, because it is, but the Capra is designed less for scale and more for outright performance.

Think about your terrain. Is it mild walking trail or does it have large obstacles?

Where I crawl there are a number of TRX4's of all body styles, as well as a couple of TRX6's. I have a Capra and it's not a fair comparison between the two, but they both cover most of the terrain. Like Jato mentioned they are both capable, it just depends on what you want.

I would go TRX4 for now as the Capra seems to be it's own little class.

I have found that, in general, when going out with a group of friends it is more fun for everyone if all the trucks are approximately equal in performance.

I do a lot more trail running than rock crawling and prefer the TRX 4, just my opinion i think the TRX 4 is better looking and more to scale.

Nice! Congrats! Definitely post up a build thread so you can keep track and also keep us up to date as you change and modify things. We also love seeing photos of other people's trucks and outings.

Good choice on the TRX4. Just keep in mind that you have virturally unlimited selection of bodies. Just as an example, this is one of my TRX4s with an Axial Jeep XJ body. Point is you don't have to run the same body your friends are running.

Nice thread, I have been struggling with the exact issue. But thanks to all the input I think for me the trx4 is the way to go!
However the Capra looks so bad ass
