Default Anybody paint their truck with plasti dip?

First off, the search function isn't working on my mobile phone... Idk
I got my dingo kit, painted the body had it all nice and cool using krylon plastic and rustoleum plastic paint.
First run it chips!!! I want to redo it and will soak it in dot 4, but if I manage to clean it all up I want to do it right. Heard that automotive grade paint may work or the tamiya paints, but I'm curious about plastic dip too. I'll have to order the good paints, but I was wondering if you guys have some tips.
I'm kind of a perfectionist and would like to do it right.
Thanks in advance, if there is a thread about this feel free to link it to me.

Use lexan paint for lexan bodies. Plasti-dip would make for a heavy body it's not ideal neither is auto paint.

yea search button doesn't work on my mobile phone either :(

if you don't have an airbrush then use pactra spray paint. very important to clean inside of body really good. especially after you use brake fluid. I have never had much luck with the body turning out very good after stripping the paint. always seemed to scratch the body and or fog it up. personally if it were me I would consider a new body altogether. I know it sucks and I am not made of money either but that is what I would do

A new body is probably easier. Been looking for one. The dingo was cheap but the body is more boxy than I'd like. Ordered a lift kit and some 2.2's so maybe I'll pick up a thinner ()---() body soon. The width is what I'm referring to. If you guys happen to have suggestions on that topic also, let me know.

I used plasti dip on the roof of the axial jk the finish came out perfect for the look, no chips but when it get dirty/ or dusty you have to run it under water to get it off, it doesn't just wipe off.

I've also had it on the bumpers and wheels of my real truck for the last 2+ years with no problems at all

That's encouraging. I really love plastic dip. Have spray and goop. Which did you use? Quite a few colors too. My thoughts are that if it adheres, it would bend with the truck. I guess I could strip the paint off and try the plastic dip. Cool thing about it is it peels off.

I did plasti-dip on my hard body toyota. It gave it the stealth look but it is a dust magnet and it will peel off at the sharp edges of the body (wheel wells, bumpers and around the window openings). The coats were very thin in those areas. I guess you would probably yield better results if you spray on the plasti-dip thicker at these areas first then work towards the body panels. Something to watch out for.

This was my first time using plasti dip on a lexan body. I learned that I need to cut the body and drill the holes first or the plasti dip will catch the drill bit and pull off the body. Plus it takes a long time to do the body, well at least it took me awhile to do because all I had around the house was the brush on plasti dip and I let each coating dry before I put on the next. You can also see around the edges of the body where I trimmed, that is the plasti dip.

Thanks for posting all those pictures!! I would use the spray myself. Looks pretty good. I'm waiting for my botched paint job to flake off so I can redo it the right way. Either plasti dip or lexan paint. Krylon "plastic" paint is a no-no! Oops

It may make it heavy but I've heard of people lining the body after paint with plasti dip and making it more durable.

Properly applied lexan paint will outlive the body.
