Default Painting Aluminum

I just ordered the Wraith Three Piece side panel kit from Carter Fab and Machine for my Poison Spyder Wraith. I would like to paint these panel close to the same shade of blue as my old body was. I was hoping to just paint the panels blue and then add some of small decals from the PS website.

Are there any tips or special precautions/paints that will give me the best overall paint job?

Thanks

as with any paint job, prep

light sand with a fine paper, clean with thinner (on metals) or denatured alcohol (any surface), and spray

you can do a light colored primer if you like, depends on the color you are laying down. if it is dark, probably don't need a primer, if it is light I would probably prime it.

Along with sanding, a few light coats of self etching primer should help it stick. My painted aluminum beadlock rings held up pretty decently considering my truck that sees a lot of time on the rocks. But hey...rock rash is good:thumbup:

Yep as said above, the etching primer is a must to help the paint stick to the aluminum, I found out the hard way.
