| Any rattle-can tan?
Anyone have a clue how to do tan with a can? Only tans I've found are airbrush, which I don't own. I would like to do my SCX10III in black with a tan top. I've never tried this before, but can you hand brush the airbrush paint? Or is that a disaster waiting to happen? |

I saw someone getting creative with what they had brushing on latex paint from the inside and it seemed perfectly fine but If you're doing it on the outside I think its unlikely to look amazing. Are you painting the inside or outside? I've heard it said that so long as the first layer of paint is a lexan specific paint you can switch to something thats not lexan specific. But this only applies to painting the outside of a body. I haven't seen any good tans meant for lexan sadly. I wish Tamiya would make their TS paint colors for PS too, theres so many good TS colors. For achieving that sort of matte roof finish. I would shoot the PS-55 Tamiya flat clear on the inside and outside of the body and then do your tan on top of the clear on the inside in another type of paint - that way the tan would not scrape off when you get the inevitable trail rash... Although - I found a can of Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch 2X UltraCover Paint plus Primer in a color they call Satin Fossil that I will be testing out sometime down the road. The can states "Also bonds to plastic", and that on plastics maximum adhesion and durability is reached within 5-7 days after application. |

x 2 what durok said about spraying with the Tamiya clear first, and once it's fully cured, you can use any cheap enamel color spray over that, Rustoleum or Krylon to achieve the desired color. When I painted my camo truck, I used Testor's enamels. The PS paint when cured flexes with the plastic and doesn't flake or peel. Any color, enamel or acrylic, applied over the PS paint, will bond to it. |

Look into Tamiya’s AS paints Military colors, work perfect over PS55 Hang up and Drive |

That's great! I didn't realize you could use those over the clear! I was planning on actually going as far as doing a matte on the exterior of the roof to make it look more like fiberglass. I'll try that for sure, knowing that I can do that. Thanks! |
