| Color backing suggestions,PLEASE?
So I'm painting a CREEP body metallic blue and camel yellow. I'm thinking the camel yellow would be a crappy backing of a color,so should i pick a color to back the MB then hit it with the camel yellow then back it with another color? I have gold,i don't know how that gold will back the blue tho? Or MB then the yellow then the gold? Maybe the gold will do something the the yellow? Am i over thinking on a body, lol? Any suggestions please i would appreciate that. |

I always try and paint dark to light, and back metallic with silver or gunmetal. That will give it some more of its shine. I’d mask what you want yellow, spray the blue then silver. Unmask paint yellow and back yellow with white. Or if you have a sample piece try the yellow backed with gold. Just my $0.02 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

What if you backed with white? It’ll pop even more. Whatever you do, get some scrap lexan and back it with multiple different colors and see which you like best. _________________ https://www.instagram.com/island_crawlaz/ SCX10ii Yota TRX-4 Bronco |

I am way too deep into projects at the moment but I do have a paint backing test on the back burner. I will eventually acquire some extra lexan for testing and the idea will be to put down the first color and then back it with a complimentary color. So for instance, put down red and then back it with green, or orange and back with blue. Then I think the other "rules" apply with backing that with white, black, silver etc. for brightness, richness or other desired effect. My theory is that it could make some colors richer with more depth like red or potential a little deeper or like orange or yellow being contrasted more in their case. It could just result in a mild color change effect or nothing at all. Since the paints are at least mildly translucent, it should add depth to the color the way it does in fine art oil painting. That is a serious over simplification but it could / should add depth on showy projects, especially around panel lines and areas with texture. Or it could have no noticeable effect at all. I was throwing out some really old paintings and it reminded me of this technique that played of those elements and the translucency of the paint. My guess is it will be subtle but I do want to give it a shot someday. |

There are a couple of decent options for scrap lexan that is really inexpensive. The first option is 2 litter bottles of either Pepsi or Coke. Both are in a polycarbonate bottle that is clear when empty. Just wash and you are good to go. The second option is clear plastic spoons. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
