Ill get back to you on that, Im about to mount mine in the next day or two and try them out.

As for these guys (HPI Tarmac D Comp that come stock on the WRC Flux):

Im an R/C noob, but they seem incredibly sticky. On a surface like concrete, I couldnt really get the car to drift at all - everytime I tried to I just traction rolled Wasnt really that fun honestly, I got a rally car to do rally car stuff like drifting and be able to get a little loose. Maybe the off road tires will serve me better here.

I also have run them in a regular asphalt parking lot that had a coating of the tiny gravel bits that are put down for traction in the snow, and they were a blast. You had to be gentle with the throttle to get it to hook up well from a dig, but it also allowed the car to do awesome, controllable powerslides at will.

I havent tried them in a real off road situation, but it seems like they would be decent in lateral grip but not great in acceleration. A good tire for in between surfaces like dusty/dirty asphalt or a bit of gravel though.

The edges of my wheels are pretty scraped up though (only gone through 3 packs). Seems like its probably from the sidewall rolling over too much during hard cornering. Not sure if you could fix this with stiffer foams or something, just thought Id note it

As far as 2.2 rally tires I have found that the tamiya tgx tires work well on the hpi super sized wheels 57x35mm. There's also the other 2 compounds of the smaller HPI rally tire in super size but are expensive now.
I think the duratrax bandito buggy front tires would make a good Tarmac tire for 2.2 rims.
There is the proline dirt hawk rear buggy tire (slightly wide) or (real narrow fronts)

What about these from Custom Works?
Slightly larger OD at 72mm.

Maybe a good hard surface tire?
Or basis to do some nipping on?

6205 FRONT STREET TRAC TIRE (HB COMPOUND) Detail Page

$10-12/2 on Ebay and Tower Hobbies.

I send them an email asking widths of that and this one below.

I've used these tires for Oval dirt track when i lived in Arkansas. They work great on oval asphalt tracks as well. Great for "Dirt tracking" on hard packed tracks. But as far as rally, your not going to get the traction you want. Plus on oval dirt or asphault your running wider rears then front. So if your not planing on building a sprint car, modified, oval truck, NASCAR rep, stock car, super stock, or a oval buggy I wouldn't waste the money. They require alot of setup ( suspenion, and insert hardness). I can give you more info if this is something you'd like to get into. But by all means it's not easy or cheap.

With the kyosho fat101 my rally actually became capable of going in 4in of snow. It was really powdery but it was pushing snow with the front bumper.

Have about $30 into them.
They seem to work great outdoors, really tear it up. Might have to protect better from stones & bashing. Its rippin so good.

Outdoor tire for sure.

So, I finally got a chance to run my new off road WR8 tires/wheels today. These should have just come stock on all the WR8 cars. I liked them so much better than the tarmac ones that came on it. They let the car move around a bit on asphalt, and obviously have better grip in dirt. I doubt Ill ever put the tarmac ones back on. Well worth the purchase and pain in the ass of glueing them.

Got a set of the Vaterra 1.9 rally tires that come on their little rally car. They pretty much wore out entirely in half a battery in the street on my xv01. Only positive is that they are super soft and 25$ a set mounted and glued. I also have some older Proline Rally Rage tires in addition to the hpi rally tires and their pirelli tires, rally legends tires.

FWIW I purchased a set of the Pro-Line 110200 Road Rage 2.2 tires for my WR8.

They look ok and seem to be holding up pretty well.

I don't own an actual Ford WR8 body but this is how they look on a WR8 with one of the older SNR bodies:

Action out in the real world:

I also have the Tamiya Rally block tires. They are my favorite so far when it comes to all around driving fun. They give just enough to powerslide the car all about and they have just enough traction so that they are not usless for getting the car where you want it to go:

How are those proline tires in comparison to the stock ones in overall size?

AKA came up with a tire type that might be a good news to all DRX drivers, let's hope it takes of and they get more tread patterns out

M chassis wheels are 1.7s perfect size rims for scaler builds or for vintage cars

I think there are four or five guys in our CRC group who have order from them and we all got our tires. As Kirt said I think that is the only place to get them.

OK, will try them out. They are worth the wait then? I recall reading they are good but wear fast.

They are made for very soft and silty dirt. They will wear very fast on hard pack and tarmac. They are a very good tire and a couple years ago I thought they were the best. But now that I have started cutting tires I 100% believe cut up Tamiya Rally blocks are the best tire you can have. Besides tarmac tires I won't buy anything else for the dirt.

If you want to see some of the tires/ cut patterns I do just check out my XV-01 thread.

I saw the photos - and the blood - seemed a bit hardcore for me, but when I get into a thing, I gets into it. Maybe I'll just stock up on some tamiya blocks. It the purpose to allow the carcass to expand and throw more mud/snow off the tire, allowing better traction? Feel free to answer in PM or direct me to a better place to ask the question - perhaps in your xv01 thread?

I have since stopped using the hot knife. I just use RC body scissors now. Its easier and doesn't make me bleed.

Yes it allows the tire to flex more, removes some rotating mass, but more so it opens the treads blocks up to allow the dirt to get in between them to create more forward bite. Plus because the tread is so open they do not pack with snow or mud, AKA, they clean out really well. The cutting just makes these tires completely different and everything this does is a vast improvement over stock.

If you are still curious feel free to post in my XV-01 thread.
